So much for "culture change" ...

Yeah, I was really disappointed by Tavai. He seemed like a lunchpail kind of guy, but now I'm not so sure.
I believe he's the same guy.. the season has been hard on these guys especially on defense. Of course I'm sure regrets the comments. Our fans are everything.. furthermore who knows what else these fans were shouting especially with a few in them.

Yeah, that's my biggest knock on him versus Vrabel. We know exactly what a Vrabel will do to this locker room.
100%.. everyone would want a high octane offense. However the culture in Detroit was built first then the players were added as they went on. I'm trying to look at this from a team perspective. Drake and the offense weren't necessarily the problem.. it was the inability to not stop anything an offense does this season. As I've said the defense is mostly disappointing. Vrabel will have his imprint all over the defense.
While i'm on record as going with Ben Johnson that is based on my assumption he will be very clear, commanding, consistent, and confident in articulating how he will establish a winning culture. If he can't do that, I want no part of him.

That is where Vrabel has my confidence. I'm not concerned about his defensive acumen. It'll be helpful but whomever the coach is needs talent- badly.

Yup, they need 10-12 players that play good to great football from FA/Draft not JAGS or projects to fill out the roster.

Vrabel just needed a QB. Name a QB he had? Yep!

Andrews, Wise, Bentley. I’m not sure about the others though.
Henry is a captain so wasn't peppers. Peppers you have to love.. he went to the team and took full account for his off field situation and said he wanted to earn the captaincy back he That Is leadership.

Early on, it was McGinest, Bruschi, Law, Vrabel... Later it was Brady, McCourty, and Slate. Brady didn't walk in here as the alpha.

When the head coach does not have key leadership qualities that inspire his players and no alpha dogs in the locker room willing to take charge, you have the 2024 Patriots team disaster. That is why I hope whoever the next coach is tries to bring in a few credible vets who can help set an example and take charge of the locker room.

I can tell you Jacoby Brissett is NOT one of those. He threw his entire offense under the bus to the media by saying "Look what I had to work with". I hope he is gone from this team along with Tavai and Keion White.
One of the first things Bill did was bring in some of "his" guys. Guys he knew he could rely on in the locker room to help build the culture. Guys like Bobby Hamilton, Otis Smith, and Anthony Pleasant. They weren't All-Pro players but they were veteran role players who Bill knew he could rely on. Add those guys into the mix with some of the players like McGinest and Bruschi who were with Bill as a DC then the message was clear and they policed the locker room until Brady became Brady.

Another of the many issues with Mayo was that he didn't have those circle the wagons type guys because he had no experience anywhere outside of here.

Exactly. Tanny worked because he had a good line, Derrick Henry, AJ Brown, Corey Davis and even a capable Jonnu Smith.
Dude went to the playoffs 3 times in 6 years with these
Marcus Mariota (21 games)
Ryan Tannehill (67 games)
Blaine Gabbert (8 games)
Malik Willis (11 games)
Josh Dobbs (2 games)
Will Levis (9 games)
Not looking for any first time coaches. Need the culture set right. Vrabel has the right attitude for the type of coach we need. Tough, intelligent, fair, a bit of an *******. Knows the rules.
Fits us perfectly!

Absolutely. Speaking of defense hearing covington is allegedly interviewing with the Bengals. So he must be out then? Vrabel just feels like the right fit.. the juncture the organization is in right now. Has the team even Scheduled anything with Vrabel yet??

Just imagine if Vrabel got his way and the signed TB12 and not Tanny to the extension.

I haven't heard of any dates yet.

Well…Peppers had an issue with the law. That may not sit well with some players. He’s been on then team just 3 years and hasn’t had the same success as the 3 I mentioned. Henry…4 years so that’s a little longer but still hasn’t had the success as the 3 I mentioned either. IMO Henry is not the kind of guy to get in someone’s face and say “know your role”.

I think there are some real leaders there. I'd say Strange, too, the way he gutted through his injury two seasons ago.

I think the new HC is going to challenge a lot of the others. And we're going to see who is part of the new Pats culture and who need to be thrown out with the bad Mayo.
Agreed there. Rham strikes me as guy that may fall into the thrown out range.. he's a good back and a team guy.. but if he starts fumbles again and Vrabel benching him I can see that going south..

Probably need 10-12 jags to fill out the roster too. We have way too many practice squad guys and fringe roster guys so we need average guys too.

That's sensible. I just always loved the way peppers plays he reminds me so much like Harrison. He played hurt.. guy overcame 2 serious Knee injuries. I firmly believe he will be reinserted where he belongs as a team leader next season even if he's not named captain.

Covington and AVP would be prudent to start taking all the interviews they can get. Can’t see the Patriots blocking them from doing so. That would be an ******* move, and RKK is not an *******.
