Robert Kraft's Press Conference

I think Robert Kraft did a great job considering he genuinely has respect for Mayo as a person…and even as a successful coach in the future.

He made it clear what was behind the decision (“in-game adjustments”, further coaching experience needed, desire to be a playoff team next year) and we know it doesn't end there.

He also deftly handled the question about Wolf, in that he suggested others would be involved (Highsmith), while certainly leaving the door open for a new GM being hired/appointed. The bad draft comments alone suggests that Wolf/Groh will no longer enjoy the same slice of that power base going forward.

A good leader never criticizes in public…only in private…so Kraft managed to skirt many direct questions calling for such a critique.

Patriots fans, especially the newer fans, should trust in Kraft’s decision because the underlying factors transcend Mayo himself, while going significantly back into the BB regime. His mention of the “new grading system” (drafts) appears to be a step that was already taken in that regard. The exigency of the moment forces the Krafts’ to focus on the head coach right now (Vrabel, for example, already interviewing with the Jets, and Johnson currently making his own interview decisions), but other leadership decisions could still occur down the road. In addition, a savvy owner would keep current “Management Staff” in place while privately searching for an alternative. In that manner they could ultimately offer some of the existing players an opportunity to stay onboard (“continuity”) during a reshuffling of the deck…or allow them to leave.

Lastly, for all the fans thinking that it’s just Robert and Jonathan making all the decisions, with no trusted voices in the background, that’s just not how big business owners operate. I am 100% sure they have been conferring/consulting with other wise folks for the past couple of months.
Well said Sir, I for one get pissed off with all the negativity and lack of insightful posting. Moan, moan, moan. Oh lets do another post. Moan, moan, moan. Get the picture?

This is really telling --

“Robert Kraft, Jonathan Kraft, Robyn Glaser—they’re the decision-makers there, who exactly does what and so forth,” said Belichick. “Mayo was hand-picked by Robert, but in the end, the decision-making is something that they have to comment on and identify.

None of these people are football people. How the hell did Glaser end up with such an important role?
Glaser is the team top lawyer.. she's not making football decisions. Apparently those are done by other than RK, JK. Alonzo Highsmith seemingly has been elevated over wolf. From the Jist of things feels like wolf has been put on borrowed time.

The Glaser stuff is a HUGE witch hunt. I have yet to see any reason to think she is responsible for anything of consequence... She seems to be the Kraft family personal assistant/attorney and that is about it.

Ross just a question? Here is says Highsmith is the senior personnel executive. I noticed RK mentioned his name first regarding to the coaching search. Feels like he has the say over wolf?

One thing I thought interesting was near the end of the press conference Robert was answering some question and started to say “we have a good quarterback” then caught himself, paused, and said with a smile “we have two good quarterbacks”.

Made me wonder if Drake may find himself in a QB competition next summer…

No way. Drake is a mile ahead of Milton. One meaningless game does not elevate him to Maye's standard. Maye is starting QB, full stop.

It’s unclear

That picture alone is a fireable offense. He’s holding that football like a 50 year old Chardonnay he’s examining.
He seems very sly, seems like a sneak. He just gives off that vibe. My interpretation from what ownership states is Highsmith has the final say over wolf. I believe wolfie his time is limited here in NE.

Yep, weasel

He can be the biggest slimeball on the planet...as long as brings in talent that wins I don't care.

So far all he has is Drake to ride off.. Drake is the reason wolf still has a job.

No idea why you guys think that. He comes off as very honest and grounded to me. A little meek, tbh.

feel like he's been sneakily demoted?.. Highsmith seems to have the final say seemingly.
I have no idea what the F is going on down there.

Last I knew Wolf was still running things.

you misunderstood, how many draft guys had Maye in the top 3 qbs?
The vast majority had Maye in the top 3.

The vast majority did not have Maye in the top 1 - but that “Scouts” guy we discussed earlier this week did.

He does seem as meek and a little nerdy but I don't see him as a slime.

Then you have Alonzo Highsmith who was a specimen at the U in the 80s. A RB/FB in the NFL for several years and later dabbled in boxing and MMA. A total badass.

Glaser is the team top lawyer..
Then why is her title “Senior Advisor to the Head Coach”? Sure don’t sound like just a lawyer to me.
she's not making football decisions.
We already had this argument. It has been reported by multiple sources that Glaser was involved in football decisions/operations and part of the team conducting interviews.

For some reason know but to God, some people on this forum want to bury their heads in the sand regarding this matter and will defend Glaser to their dying breath, all the while denying what is obvious to the rest of us.
