Upgrading the roster is what's more important heading into 2025. Yes of course we all know about the coaching. However if we do move on from Mayo we still are stuck with the 32nd ranked roster.

We have starting offensive tackles that probably should be in the semi-pro league not the pros! A lot of great scenarios, and ideas have been mentioned on the forum of how to get talent back in Foxboro.

I say aside from going after Higgins in FA try to trade for a DK Metcalf, Chris Olave or a DJ Moore. While still taking a WR in the draft. We have to explore all avenues we are not a organization that's in a position to turn our nose up to talent!

On Defense like most of you I've never seen a Patriots defense get pushed around the line of scrimmage like this season's defense. Getting physical athletic DTs and DL that can contain Running Backs, and push Interior Lineman back is badly needed.

I just wanted to post something to get the new year started with where our focus should be on the roster. Like to hear your thoughts!

the only hope of upgrading the roster with Mayo as HC is nailing the draft picks and I have no confidence in that.

I fear that no one will want to come here to play for a clown

I'm almost to the point where I'm more concerned with Wolf's inability to evaluate talent than I am with Mayo's incapacity to utilize it.

The draft is only part of the work in 2025. The Patriots have the most money under the cap of any NFL team - roughly $135 million which is $100 million more than the Jets. They've set themselves up for this off-season beautifully with five picks in the top 80 and a ton of money to pay free free agents.

This is what a re-build looks like. The Patriots under the Krafts have a long history of bringing in elite free agents. This will be a fun offseason as we watch this roster go through a transformation.

Whoever they is they must spend like drunken sailors. It's quite clear we don't have enough talent to compete so we can't be rolling money forward and not using it all.

I believe Wolf can identify talent he has shown the ability to do so. Now what I believe is identifying talent and actually taking the player identified is entirely different. He says he wants to weaponize the offense so let's see....

Wolf can do much more long term harm screwing up the 1st draft pick and $140M in cap space.
This is probably his real last chance In his GM position to get it right.. if the draft picks bust out like polk and baker have next season then I believe he's likely gone or reassigned to another position in the organization.

I agree. I understand aside from Drake the draft picks haven't panned out yet. But I'm optimistic that between free agen and the draft this team stands to look entirely different at the skill positions. In 2001 there were what 20 plus FA brought in? We may need to do something similar between the draft and FAs

For example.. getting DK or Higgins, draft T. McMillan heck if they play thier cards right they could get all 3.. Seattle reportedly is willing to entertain offers on DK. GMs talk all the time as BB once said on possibilities.. trade for a guy, sign Higgins, and draft McMillan now that drastically changes the WR room.

If Wolf shops it, it won't be good.

Even if he blindly makes all the perfect signings and picks, it won't matter if Mayo is coaching them. In fact it'd be even worse, because then they'd be mediocre next year and Mayo will be locked in for at least 5 years.

Those 2 men are priority 1A and 1A to replace with competence. Everything else is a domino effect that starts there.

I really don't want anything to do with Olave, he's had 5 VERIFIED Concussions, the last being week 9(2nd this year).
Seems he was in practice last week, but it looks like they won't activate him because they are not in it.
It's also been said that he is well aware of where he stands with his issues...
I believe he is contemplating retirement, but I have no proof.

At the very minimum you upgrade the ot, wr, edge positions. Its very possible through fa/draft.

My wish list:
-Tee Higgins, would settle for dk/cooper/godwin
-Alaric jackson or stanley, would settle for cam Robinson as a short term solution
-Draft hunter with the first pick, edge rusher pick 2
-Hassan reddick, down year with the jets. Normally a very productive rusher. Lets you move keion inside with the drafting of another edge. Prefer josh sweat but dunno if he’ll hit fa.
-rt, if they feel good about caedan ok but i wouldn’t hesitate to swing a trade for jack conklin as another stopgap by the deadline.

Thats the BARE minimum along with depth signing at dt and cb. Also would like to Take a fs mid rounds, and make a run at dre greenlaw. But first things first give drake help at wr and strengthen the trenches. A strong pass rush hides many weaknesses

Yes I've heard that as well and smart on his behalf . I wish Tua has his mentality. However he's still a great young WR on his rookie deal.. NOs is sneakily doing a rebuild as well. He's just one if many possible options. The premise is attaining as much talent at the skill positions as possible. Let these guys all compete for spots in camp. In a perfect world you'd have 2 game changers on the outside and now pop, Boutte and KB can play more to thier skill sets.

I'm not against all that but it would seem like overkill. After lasts years free agent class a little overkill might be a good thing. But we also have other positions of need too. We have plenty of money to overkill at WR and still address OL and front 7.

The answer this off-season should be yes.

My fear is why would a free agent want to come here. I am sorry the coaching looks terrible and the players are calling the coaches out. If I'm a free agent like Tee Higgins I will look elsewhere if the money is even close. If that happens the Patriots may end up overspending for poor to average players because they have to get to the minimum they have to spend. I can't remember how that works, but it could be a disaster for them.

I hope not they definitely have to draft well and hopefully resign their good draft picks in the future.

Team needs an organizational rebuild from the top down to attract top tier FAs without massively overpaying. I don’t think Kraft has the stomach for it so I’m tempering my expectations this offseason.

It will be really exciting watching Wolff having to overpay middle of class players to have them come here because no good players will want to sign here.

Sadly still sounds like an upgrade to this years roster
