I think it's True after watching his over matched successor. IF BB was Coaching the Jets he would whoop Mayo twice in 25. BB was probably thinking if Mayo can get a HC Job I can too even at his age.

if he didn't do due diligence and check with all teams that have potential coaching openings, or at the very least Chicago & the Jets who already have openings, then he wasn't doing his job

Ya, I don't know that BB would really want to go there. But, as it's developed, his hatred of the Patriots (Kraft) has emerged as one of his patented life-long grudges it seems. So, I believe he would have taken that job just to troll the Pats for a couple years, even if hates the owner and org. So glad his sane mind prevailed in the end. And I hope he and Kraft can mend things sooner than later. He should have a statue at Gillette as much as Brady. Seriously. Brady doesn't become Brady without BB. The 1st dynasty was 90% BB, the 2nd was 90% Brady.

Jets butt fumbled that one as well. The short term pairing of BB and Rodgers would've been the best situation for the Jets, but they found a way to fuk that up. In addition, Bill would've had pieces to work with on defense.

BB is a long term strategic thinker. I dont know why he did not have a plan post Brady, but for 20 years BB ruled the NFL.

Coming back to Foxboro twice a year to face Thunder Kraft's dysfunctional team is a bad look when BB has everything to gain.

I still believe that BB will return to the NFC after a couple of years in NC when he will have NFL offers galore. He will be 75 and no NFL HC has ever won a Super Bowl with an AFC and and an NFC team. Just sayin.
