The Bill megathread (HC at UNC, girlfriend, etc.)

It will be the agents that say.
These kids have agents now, the 4 and 5 stars anyway.
Also the thing people aren't bringing up is the transfer portal. College kids players with any talent at all have much more ability to just tell their school to take a hike and go somewhere else. They aren't stuck into contracts.

The man loves to teach and talk the game
Recruiting will be tricky
I assume a lot of kids would not want to play for a grump
But on the other side of that is….
That grump could be one of the best at getting you NFL ready
NFL ready kids get drafted
I think the whole “not playing for a grump” thing is overrated. Sure, a segment of the population won’t buy in, but I bet a lot more players will want hard coaching than some fans think…

They will.
There's a lot of car dealerships and personal injury lawyers in Chapel Hill and alumni. And there's only so much you can spend on basketball.
Yes. UNC has car dealerships.

And SMU has oilmen.

No way he hired Lombardi lmao

72/24=3
72/18=4

Time to return the lease and get a new model... maybe 4 of them so that it adds up to 72.

Then those college kids are absolute knuckle heads if they have reservations playing for Bill. I loved it when Carroll went to USC in 2001. At the time, UCLA dominated both basketball and football. USC's program was pretty much an afterthought and Carson Palmer was looking like an overhyped disappointment. Carroll put them back on the map and they eventually became rock stars kicking UCLA to the curb. They style of play was the closest thing to an NFL team in college football.

Young prospects should be fighting to be coached by a 6 time Super Bowl winning HC, 2 time Super Bowl winning DC Bill Belichick who coached a recently retired Tom Brady.

Doesn't it seem that Deion Sanders is trying to do the same thing at Colorado?

What's up with UNC Basketball this year they going to be competitive in the tourney?

His new GF go there??

Anyway,

Any college strength and training coach is 100x worse than BB.

Doesn't it seem that Deion Sanders is trying to do the same thing at Colorado?
Yes, but BB will be much more convincing. If you want to play in the NFL who do you trust? Deion or BB? I expect that the vast majority of kids will trust BB.

No reputable confirmation of BB "accepting a deal" in the 6 hours since that tweet

seems Bogus or at best a guess to jump the gun and claim credit, with luck
Patience, grasshopper

Bill now has to meet with boosters and convince them to re-route some of the money that they contribute to the basketball program.
Sounds like that’s already been done. It’s what they’ve been doing to tie up the loose ends in this deal.

Confirms that Belicheck cared more about helping his son and coaching with people liked than actually winning.

I hope him the best
What? How so?

Bill shows a different side in the locker room, according to many of his players. He’ll show that to potential recruits and their families and advisors. So the equation will be the last two lines, he will get his players NFL ready. That’s worth a lot to them.

That will be his recruiting pitch: "We can get you ready for the NFL."
How much will he leverage former NFL stars who played for him in his recruiting pitches? Will some aspiring high school db find DMac sitting in his living room telling his parents how well BB will prepare their kid for the rest of his future?

This could shake up college recruiting a lot.

The top prospects are overwhelmingly going to go where the money is.
Maybe some, I don’t think all will. Some will look at bigger money down the road and go where it best prepares them for that.

He’ll probably have some good initial success but I don’t see this going well. Probably fired in 3 years
It’s a three year contract. He will either play it out, or leave by mutual agreement to take an NFL HC gig in a year or two.
