Maye took some vicious shots yesterday amazed that he had 282 yards he could have had more ie...drops and positive plays called back.
Agreed 100% the defense hasn't gotten better I kept giving them an out becuase of Barmore, Bentley and peppers.. but man.. they can't stop anything... they show flashes here and there but since week 2 they have been terrible no other way to put it. I'd have to go back to the Wheatley, sterling Moore, wilhite at CB era to see how we allowed two 100 plus yard WRs. And 4 TDS.. our LBs and safeties are atrocious in coverage.Agreed. Plus waste Maye when he is on the rookie contract.
To be fair, Maye looks better every game, including his footwork, so there is some QB coaching competency, although not game time coaching or play calling competency. The defense looks awful too.
It doesn't matter at all. You can have All-Pros. You can have marginal players. It doesn't matter. That's what happens when you have Marginal NFL players as Starters.
What makes maye the most impressive out of all the rookie QB is he's doing this with no game changers at WR.. Williams, nix, Daniels all have play makers at WR.Thats what i was most impressed with his ability to stand in there and deliver strikes with guys in his face. Imo it was his best game yet just sucks it had to end the way it did and the defense didn’t help him either.
It is mostly the coaching. Gonzo did not shadow anyone, and stayed on one side. When Mayo was asked in his press conference why the defense formation was used, he had no explanation. He did not explain because there was no strategy involved. Mayo and Covington are in way way way over their heads.Agreed 100% the defense hasn't gotten better I kept giving them an out becuase of Barmore, Bentley and peppers.. but man.. they can't stop anything... they show flashes here and there but since week 2 they have been terrible no other way to put it. You'll come around eventually. I knew Polk was a bust during OTAs, when I saw his lack of suddenness and concrete cleats. Then, we all saw his laughably overblown estimation of his own talent. And now Polk puts up another goose egg yesterday. If he was going to be any good, he'd already be showing up. The advanced stats on him are atrocious. He just doesn't get open.
Absolutely! Drake helps the OL so much and they still can't line up correctly..Should be top priority next year along with ol

"Hopefully not Polk. I like McMillan, but Polk is underwhelming."I'm fairly dense most of the time, and it just legitimately hit me that the Pats' new WR coach, Tyler Hughes, was in charge of QC on Offense for UW. It's almost like a year long scouting trip. Curious to see which, if any, UW player makes it on the Pats.
I believe mayo has extreme Xs and Os knowledge being a former player and understudy of BB. However doing on your own as a HC can be a daunting task.. he's deep into the season he should be farther along as a developing HC than where he is now. But your right.. the game plan strategy not to have your best CB on either Nucua or cupp is just asinine. I have to keep reminding myself this is a bottom roster all around with a rookie coach and QB.It is mostly the coaching. Gonzo did not shadow anyone, and stayed on one side. When Mayo was asked in his press conference why the defense formation was used, he had no explanation. He did not explain because there was no strategy involved. Mayo is really in idiot but that’s what you get when you don’t hire based on competence.
Spot on! BB is an NFL savant his knowledge of every facet, nuance, rule, player habits is just irreplaceable. The version of Barmore we saw yesterday wasn't the dominant player we saw last season.. I'd give him a few more games to knock rust off.. Gibson was brought here to be the guy getting those dump offs and catching out the backfield. He needs to be more involved. Its not as simple as you put. Bill had the knowledge to fix things but it didn't always happen because of the owner, Bill's own stubbornness, the players and maybe other factors we just don't know about. What I can say is I never felt that Bill was deficient in his knowledge of the game and you knew there would be second half adjustments in every game.
Do you feel like this group of coaches and particularly the head coach are on par with most of the league? What have you seen them do in game on the fly that have improved the teams chances to win? They come in with a script and they stick to it no matter what.
They cant get time management right, they make decisions to go for it or kick a field goal that seem head scratching at times. This past week they poorly planned to try to shutdown Kupp/Nacua and the run defense was still poor with Barmore back. They never tried to punish the Rams that was continually blitzing by doing those little dump offs Brady use to do behind the line backers to have them back off. My opinion is this team has little talent on both sides of the ball and the coaching is no better, that's why they are 3-8.
I'm done with Sideways running no yac Gibby Real. I see why the Commanders moved on.Spot on! BB is an NFL savant his knowledge of every facet, nuance, rule, player habits is just irreplaceable. Could it be on the defensive side.. that the lack of talent along with execution be the problem? Covington has said he kept the excat same defense that he's coached in. When we've faced meidocre defensive fronts even they have been able shut our run game down but we can't stop the run for anything.I supported Mayo and Covington and had high hopes for the defense precisely because they were carryovers from the best defensive football staff in NFL history.
In retrospect, it looks like that defense did well despite them.
And don't tell me it was all Belichick and his acolytes can't carry the same defensive principles and coaching forward, because we have seen people like Saban, Schwartz, Crennel, Flores, etc. have success with it. Patricia was never really a DC anywhere else and he failed as an HC but others have had success.
Yes even after the refs tell the players they are too deep.. that is beyond coaching it's more on mental mistakes.Oh man, now you’re reminding me of the procedural bs. Even if they simply lined up right this could’ve been a way different game. FFS!
He's being wasted here in whatever you want to call this offense . He was good in Washington.. I'm sure he having second thoughts now.I'm done with Sideways running no yac Gibby Real. I see why the Commanders moved on.
