Considering that this season is already a lost season, is the goal of the team to lose lot more , but at the same time play the younger players even if it means we are not playing the best 22 to identify and weed out the incompetent ones.

Play Polk, Baker, Robinson, Lowe, Brown till they figure it out as better players or get showcased as absolute busts. This way we know whom we need to draft next season.

There is a risk of injury to Maye, but considering the gaping number of roster holes, wondering if wolf / kraft are dictating who needs to pay with Mayo being a lame duck coach with guarantee that he would not be canned after this season.

If that were true, don't know what the rest of season holds. I think the staff did not expect maye to be so stellar. So it throws a wrench into their original plans.

Yes, for sure we should play our best LT and our best C.

BTW, your strategy was tried against TEN and arguably led to losing the game. We have a very weak line, but the best we have was working well together: Lowe, Jordan, Brown, Onwenu, Jacobs. This line allows youngsters to learn by playing on a line together along ONE starter. Playing Robinson and benching Jacobs was a serious coaching error.

With regard to young OG's we are indeed giving lots of playing time to Robinson and Sow (and Jordan). We are finding out a lot. They are so good that we added a Practice Squad OG. One issue is that not laying Onwenu at OG is hurting the development of Jacobs.

I do NOT favor benching Onwenu so that we can play Jordan, Sow and Robinson. This is a development year, but it is NOT the preseason. They are so bad that Jordan needs to start to have even a semblance of an OL.

Just BTW, you cannot develop the other players on Offense if the OL can't allow Maye any time. We need to play the best OL that we have.

WIDE RECEIVERS
You want to give the young lots of playing time. I think that is certainly happening. Having ONE veteran WR on the field make the Offense better and allows a BETTER chance for the youngsters to develop. Boutte and Douglas are developing very well and getting valuable experience with Maye. Theie development is HELPED not hurt by have Bourne and Henry as receiving options.

Polk has gotten a lot of reps. If he played/plays well, he will get more. Baker has many, many things to learn in Practice before sitting the others so that he can get reps.
=======
BOTTOM LINE
The team will NOT do better long-term by benching ONWENU and BOURNE so that Robinson and Jacobs can have more reps.

I never said we should bench anybody. Just pointing out if it's a predetermined approach to know what we have even at the cost of losing games or looking pathetic on field or risking injury to Maye.

Polk has got enough chances. Now we should try Thornton and Baker / Osbourne combo. . Play Thornton and Osbourne for next 4 and if Thornton pans out play Thornton / baker in last 4 games.

Polk is mentally shot. No point playing him now . Just redshirt him for remainder of season.

If they don't already know what they have, they are pretty dense/dumb. Like @mgteich said about the OL not being able to protect Maye, you cannot develop anyone else. Sort the OL out by not playing musical chairs and the rest should fall into place. Scar understood this, not sure why no one else does. We know that big mike hasn't played well at T, yet they play him there to see how ****ty another guy is. Good stuff. I can see having certain OL packages for certain things but cmon...

LT, RG, Center should be fixed now . RT should be demontrey Jacobs till we get back Caeden Wallace e and he outperforms Jacobs in practice.

as for LG sow didna good job last year , not sure what happened to him. Maybe insert him back for 2-3 games and see how he does. Use Jordan as swing guard .

The receivers that get almost all the reps are Bourne, Boutte, Douglas, and Henry. Having these four on the field for almost all the receiver reps gives Maye (and AVP) the best chance to develop. I don't think that we help the development of the Offense by sitting one of these four to give lots of reps to Thornton and Baker.

Now that they have their franchise QB I think all of the focus should be on putting the best possible line up out there and winning. The players need to earn their playing time by merit, not draft status. I want the young guys to play as much as anyone, but it has to be earned, especially on the OL, as they need to try and keep Maye from getting multiple concussions his rookie year, and having to try and find another franchise QB a couple of years from now. They need to create a winning culture and build around the better players, while getting rid of those who don’t buy in, or simply aren’t good enough.

Sow mostly played RG last year right?

I'm pretty much done with Onwenwu at RT but just out of curiosity did we even play the Sow/Onwenwu on the right combo at all this year. Due to timing and injury I don't think we did.

Cole Strange is said to be back soon, that should shore up our Interior some I'm Done with Sow Sow. Also Robinson have a lot of work to do over the Offseason regarding playing strength and technique.

Yeah it seems several promising rookies from last year are regressing.
