Can KC go 19-0?

So the guy who is making 2015 Peyton Manning looking like 2010 Tom Brady will be the GOAT if he is carried by his great defense to a 4th SB?

I mean, Mahomes is great and he will play better, but there is more to being the best than just winning. Brady is the GOAT because he was the straw that stirred the drink for at least 4 Super Bowls. Mahomes has been for 2 for sure, but this year, the team is carrying him big time.
Brady did not have great defenses?

2001 and 2003 ring a bell?

Mahomes is making plays to win games. The Chiefs are never out of it because of Mahomes. He is spreading the ball around.

Excellent! Lets jinx them!

The bucs coach should have gone for two... I hate the queefs.

why is this on the main board? Who gives a **** about KC?
Who gives a **** where the thread is located?

And nobody's forcing you to read one word of this thread.

The top 10 in revenue has won something like 13 of the last 14 World Series. That isn't parity.

Right now there is a dynasty in KC, but you need to ask yourself why the dynasty exists. Does it exist because they are an incredibly well run team with phenomenal talent, including at the most important position in all of sports? Or are they a dynasty because they generate more revenue than everyone else and consequently spend more on payroll than anyone else?
I haven't analyzed it all yet but I just completed a draft comparison and at first glance it looks like KC has done well in the draft.

The spend to win strategy that's working in baseball actually originated with the Ruth trade. I don't remember the man's name but he was part of that theft and brought it to the Yankees (a name that was also stolen from New England).

20-0, threepeat? If that happens, they surpass the Patriots. Mahomes replaces Brady as GOAT.
I guess it's all pretty subjective.

Does KC's 4 of 6 with 3 straight beat the Pats' 3 of 4 and 3 of 5? I didn't think any team would get close a few short years ago.

Mahomes would still have to get a couple more wins to get into the GOAT discussion.

Brady had a very good defense for the first three SB wins and a very good offense for the last three.

The current version of the Chiefs is more balanced.

I remember being pissed off that the 2009 Colts and 2015 Panthers had a shot at going undefeated. My reasoning was that those two teams, just like the 2024 Chiefs, are no where near the dominance that was the 2007 Patriots.

If another team is going to go undefeated, they should at least come close to the 2007 Patriots dominance.

2007 Patriots: 19.7 MOV (highest by a team in Super Bowl era)

2009 Colts: 6.8 MOV (10.4 MOV when they were 14-0 prior to “resting starters”)

2015 Panthers: 12.0 MOV

2024 Chiefs: 7.0 MOV

It’s going to be an absolute joke if this team goes undefeated.

And IIRC that also went back to the Miami and Jets games to close out the regular season.
I’m not going to deny the offense did slow down some by the end of the year (still shredded the Steelers defense in Week 14 and Giants defense in Week 17 though)

But that 2nd Jets game was awful weather. 20+ mph wind gusts and rain. The worst possible conditions for passing. And the 2nd Dolphins game, the Patriots offense in the first half went:

Drive 1: 70 yards, touchdown
Drive 2: 21 yards, punt
Drive 3: 79 yards, touchdown
Drive 4: 68 yards, touchdown
Drive 5: 80 yards, touchdown
Drive 6: -1 yard, end of half

They came out of halftime and started spamming the ball to Moss trying to get him and Brady the records instead of playing their game. In the 2nd half of the 2nd Dolphins game, Brady had:

18 dropbacks
2 sacks (looking deep in the direction of Moss on both)
8 attempts to Moss (5 deep)
4 attempts to Welker
2 attempts to Gaffney
2 attempts to Stallworth

They were 100% trying to get the records in that game instead of Week 17. The Dolphins defense knew this but the Patriots didn’t give a **** and attempted it anyway.

Once again, not denying the offense slowed down some. But the 2nd Jets and Dolphins games need context.

don't kid yourself... he's already in the GOAT discussion.

I know it's a little early, but their only tough game is in two weeks at Buffalo. If they win there it's pretty doable after that. Their next toughest game will be a home game vs Houston and a road game in Pittsburgh in week 17. After that it's the rest of their division at home with Cleveland and Carolina thrown in.

Can they do it? If they do how would it change the Pats' greatest claims?

It's been amazing how I went from thinking that no team will ever come close to what the Pats have done but here I am a few short years later thinking that the Pats, Brady and Bill could all be looking up at KC, Mahomes and Reid in a few more years.
When you can commit egregious holding penalties without getting flagged, anything is possible

No they won't go undefeated but they will be the first team to win 3 Super Bowls in a row. Other teams just get absolutely stupid when they play the Chiefs. They also have an elite defense and an elite offensive play caller in Andy Reid.

Don't forget they have an elite bout of favoritism from the league & officiating crew to throw about 3-5 obvious calls their way per game.

He rolled out to his right, looking toward the sideline to his right and then hit Kelce to his left, who was barely in his peripheral vision. I looked at my wife and said "man this guy is something else". It was only a gain of 7 or so, but it kept the drive alive.

7-4=3. For the first three, Brady was not the main weapon of the team and I conceded that in my post.

I just think it is way to early to crown Mahomes, especially when he is having a very bad season DESPITE his team being undefeated.

The NFL seriously needs to do something about the blatant false starts of the OL. Jawaan Taylor is the undisputed king, but it's a problem around the league. These lineman are allowed to cheat, yet still give up so many sacks. Just shows how much the talent has been dropping off.
