Beat a division rival, a more talented team, in a game both teams needed bad. Overcame 4-5 horrid calls, 4-5 horrid drops, a cheap shot that knocked Maye out of the game early, and media/fans calling for everyone's head in the lead-up. I'm very happy with this win, for the players and us. Don't anyone start with how it was tainted, or the Jets suck and therefore not a quality win. This was as legit a victory as you'll see.

On offense, we finally had enough of our OL back to compete. Lowe makes a huge difference out there. Jacoby was able to look comfortable and showed he's a decent QB. I think our WR group should be sufficiently embarrassed to flush this game and come back better next week. Hopefully Jacoby can get us a W in Tennessee, and we get Maye back in 2 weeks.

Gotta give the D a lot of credit, they played tough with 3rd string safeties & DT's out there. Really controlled NY's running game, which was a huge surprise. Marcus Jones 1 on 1 vs Wilson all day is not a fair matchup but he stayed with him and held him to 5 catches, he didn't kill us. Gonzo shut down Adams. Wise showed up, and I like what I see with Ellis. Covington showed the doubters he can do the job.

ST's too - Marcus's great return that changed the game, and Sly making all his kicks.

Mayo sounded the dog whistle a week ago, and the team responded. His stock rose probably more than anyone else's. Brighter days ahead.

Brissett deserves major kudos.
Booed by the home fans before getting benched earlier in the month, then putting 18 pts on the board in the 2nd half vs the JESTs...
I for one didn't see that coming. Well done!

And was it Mayo or Covington who decided man coverage would effectively stymie Rodgers?....Regardless....great strategy, tremendous execution.

My JESTs thought:
Adams is slowwwwww.
Rodgers is cashed. Every throw off his back foot. Looked like Mac Jones' grandfather out there.

Note: Can't believe the Titans are currently (-3) vs NE.
Talk about a cashed team

It was a very encouraging response. The team showed fight and resilience. They were beaten up, the refs ****ed us on multiple occasions, and maye went out. Not only did they not give up they got the win. Great showing overall.

That all said it was one game and it was a mess of a team that we beat. week 1 was encouraging too and then they crumbled afterward so im tempering my expectations right here. I hope for another good performance in Tennessee. Truthfully we should win that one even with jacoby if need be. Maybe even a bigger test for the team here to see if they can maintain /build off what they did yesterday.

Added that for you. The Jets looked like the team coming off an overseas game with no bye...

Overcoming all adversities , this win was huge

Off field noise on coaching
Team playing soft
Coming from London
Receivers dropping 6 catches
Terrible refereeing
Losing QB in middle
No veteran safeties
Mismatched cornerback
Inferior talent

And still we won. Hugely resilient .

I don't know if there was much progress outside of Brissett playing slightly better, the Jets beat themselves and our WRs still dropped ball after ball.

A win breaks the streak and lets Mayo breathe but lets not make out we saw something we hadn't seen before.

Progress:

Stopped the run - check
Better o-line play - check
Gonzalez played better - check
Better coaching - check
Brissett played better - check
Running game improved - check
Better special teams play - check
Team showed heart - check

A lot of wishful thinking there cause we won the game, the stopping the run went from awful to ok but not great.

Take away Mayes 3 rushes and the Patriots rushed 28 times for 65 yards, that's putrid.

Was the coaching better or were they just outsucked by another staff in over it's head?

How much of a factor was that the Jets prepared all week to face Maye and Jacoby saw the most action?

I have a feeling that Jacoby turns back into a pumpkin vs the Titans.

The Titans are fully capable of beating themselves though, the Titans have spectacularly bad special teams too.

It's going to be another see who loses the game first type of game.

Agreed, we’re not getting that performance again from Jacoby. If he has to play we will need rham and Gibson to have a monster day. Thankfully rham looks to be getting better on that ankle , he wasn’t amazing but at least made some guys miss yesterday.

Perfectly put! The team had every reason to loose and they still won. That means something in the locker room. Goes to show the team is still believing in thier HC. I'd love for them to get another win Sunday it would do more for the culture going forward the rest of the season.

Eh why would we take away anythng? Those Maye runs count.

Last part is probably true. There's a reason why they lost 5 in a row now.

Progress? Er not so sure maybe getting back to near where we were a few weeks ago.
Run defense was better
running game was pedestrian
The WR's again can't consistently catch the football
Gonzo played great
Marcus Jones was serviceable against a very good WR
Ellis looked good
The Oline wasn't a 4' sewer line. They actually played solid
Mayo showed some emotion on the sideline
Special Teams continues to give up big plays

Team responded to coaching.. that is important. And step in the other direction would have been tough to watch

I didn’t see that game and am wondering how Mayo reacted to the unflagged helmet to helmet on Maye.

Did Mayo visibly react?

I expect BB would have confronted the refs about that.

Mayo should have gone wild over that play.

I think @Boomer B has summarized it perfectly. It's baby steps but in right direction.

At the end of season, our goal would be

1- above average Oline play with potentially 3 positions solidified and 2 backups identified - onwenu , d Andrews , Lowe look like legit starters with brown( starter level performances so far on pass blocking ) and Jacobs looking like solid swing or backup . Wallace and Robinson have more to show whilst strange could also pan out. Definitely a good position to be in considering where we were in week 1- 6.
2. QB of future - maye looks the part so far
3. Identify 3 wide receivers - pop and Boutte so far . So another 1 more should help us. We will either draft or sign a wr1. Polk might pan out towards end of season.
4. 2 solid outside CBs and gonzo development - we have 1 and gonzo is on track to be a stud. We just need a CB2.
5. Growth of Oline play calling - upward trajectory last 2 weeks.
6. Better run blocking - work in progress.
7. Better linebacker play - elliss came along well. Another 1 should help.
8. Improved pass rush - with return of barmore and a FA signing next year we should be fine.

So let's not wallow in self pity. Let's enjoy these small wins no matter how insignificant they are in present term.

Agree. Ellis at LB I believe has a place on this team going forward.. he's rounding into a pretty solid player.. Barmore, Bentley hopefully peppers back next season would do wonders.

I've thrown out the ideas of Maybe in the off season trading for a veteran CB opposite gonzo. The guy I really like is Jaire Alexander.. his play style and his mentality at CB could really help impact gonzo, and the defense as a whole.
