I get that not disputing it. Everyone has to start from somewhere. Bill began his coaching career as an errand boy, quality control person.. and ended up being the GOAT HC. Mayo does bring some qualities to the table as a great player, champion,and team captain, and he's a BB guy. Bill drafted him, developed him and brung him into coaching after his playing career. So we must remember that.

Do you really support the franchise choosing a guy who “we hope” has the qualities, temperament, intelligence, work ethic, etc instead of all the other options who have proven their abilities?
Belichick didn’t go from qc to hc.
Why wouldn’t we hire a real HC and have let Mayo become a DC and work his way up? Generally in life you move up to leadership roles by taking on increasing roles of responsibilty and proving yourself . (Like belichick did)

Didn’t Kraft play Russian roulette with the franchise by picking an unqualified person because he likes him personally so he skipped over qualified candidates and jumped Mayo ahead 5 years of challenges he may or may not have handled well?

And we kind of did the same thing with the roster. Ignore bringing in proven players to build a roster of unproven, un- or lowly drafted players without experience and waiver wire pickups?

No. He did. Started his coaching career in the 70s. He said himself he started as QC, then moved into special teams.. anyhow point I'm making is everyone starts somewhere wether we agree with how they become a HC. You have valid points. Not arguing your that.

No I’m saying he didn’t go directly from qc to hc
He coached special teams, linebackers, became DC won 2 SBs as DC including having his game plan out in the HOF. 15 years after starting as QC and becoming renowned as the best assistant coach in the NFL, he got a HC job.
Mayo coached LBs for 5 years. And btw his team won zero playoff games in those 5 years. You also called him a champion but he was on IR when they won the SB. He played or coached in zero of the patriots 6 SB wins.
