You can keep disagreeing all you want, but they are 5-19 within the last the last two years. If the defense was good, Bill would still be here.

The defense doesn't get a pass just because someone throws a pick six. The defense has shown plenty of times to not show any resistance to the opposition and they would've found a way to score on them anyways.

Law had about two good years under Bill (2001, 2003) with 2000 and 2002 being down years.

McGinest was a better overall player in the 90's.
Bill was fired because of the offense, not the defense.

You make no sense with the rest of argument. Of course a pick 6 should never be held against the defense. That's basic.

Are you kidding me about McGinest and the 1990s? McGinest was one of the most criticized players on the team during those years. He received more abuse from Patriots fans on the AOL board than anyone. He started his career well but under Carroll he was considered a bust for getting drafted so high.

We are doomed ... Schooler is on the injury report.

FWIW, seeing that Vegas didn't favor us in a single game this year before the season started. we knew it was going to be bad. In a bizarre way, it takes the pressure off. During the good years, I used to worry about us losing. Now, no need to worry, haha. I'm just focusing on how the players are developing, especially Maye, and just taking it pretty lightly. Still look forward to sunday and enjoy it. Better days are ahead.
The better days are far off until we get a good coach and FO. Kraft's ego could make us endure another 2-3 years of the Mayo & Wolf Traveling Circus before he admits his errors and changes direction.

I can't see how this game isn't a bloodbath for the Patriots. The only wildcard is that Maye has the potential to light a fire.

I'm headed to my local BWW to watch this game out of morbid curiosity! On paper, the Jets should crush the Pats, but wouldn't it be the most JETE thing evah, if they lost to the Pats, joining them in the cellar of the AFC East, after the Jets went "all in".

It would be almost as good as watching Mookie go up 2-0 on the Yankees. (BTW, how if you are the Sox did you ever let that guy out the door? He is a great player and a class act)

BTW if the JEts win today it will be the first time they have won 3 straight against the Pats since Mo Lewis game.

The D has been gutless & lacking any hint of spark. They have no leaders.
I doubt that changed during the week, BUT if a couple guys got anointed with old Pats leadership style (like Jennings, Jones or Tavai) and everyone plays with heart, they could limit the Jets to ~20.
IF that happens, we have a chance. We need Pop & Boutte to explode today.

I'm sort of resigned to a loss. I like the effect of a loss on draft position ("We're number one!"), and every loss puts a little more pressure on the Krafts to ditch the entire coaching staff and front office - yep, all of 'em - but it would be hugely entertaining to peek in on the Jets fans' meltdown if they lose,. Whenever the Jets have a screw-up, I check out GangGreen or JetsNation just to enjoy the caterwauling. I know it's petty, but I can't help myself.

I would love to see them make more effective use of Boutte. What the Hell are they waiting for on this and on damnned near everything else? Getting this team headed in the right direction, at least with Mayo at the helm, is like trying to steer an iceberg.

I have enjoyed watching AR fail. As I grow older, these are the special moments in life that make it all worth it.
This year, Aaron is throwing the ball to imaginary Aztecs and spectral ponies.

Gotta say it. Tavai has been a weakness. He is not an enforcer in the run game, and he is always a step behind in coverage.
Our biggest problems in Run D has been these 3 things:
- the inability of our LB's to diagnose and get off blocks
- the lack of discipline for DE's to set the edge and not get sucked inside
- just poor tackling (which amounts to heart)

Gonna watch weekly to see if there’s any sign of the team starting to get its act together or if they continue to look completely unprepared and uncoached. Expecting the latter but hoping for the former.

They don't know how. This bargain basement, hire-your-travel-buddy coaching group can't do much of anything.
I thought Bill retired.

Teams with constant coaching and front office turnovers never win. The coaching and current front office set up is in place for now. So we just have to grin and bear the tough times as fans and hopefully next season will be much better.

That’s what I’m thinking. Offense has been mediocre and run game with zippo to contribute but the defense has been way worse since Maye stepped in.

I understand that there have been a lot of critical injuries but damn they have been awful.

Wish I had your outlook.. I've always considered myself to be an optimistic fan. Hard to see any optimism beyond Drake. I feel the mistrust from this team began when mayo continued to play Brissett.
