I agree that the first couple of series might be shaky and Drake Maye needs to get hit a couple of times to settle into what he does on the field. This kid is mobile, feels pressure, and can throw the ball off-platform downfield. Once Maye starts playing football, look out. This kid is the most talented QB we've seen since TFB jilted us for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
He is a better passer that any of the guys who have started a game for New England since TB12 threw that pick six to end his NEP career. Maye is a far superior passer than Cam Newton, Brian Hoyer, Mac Jones, Bailey Zappe, and Jacoby Brissette.
Maye comes to Foxboro from a fairly good - never elite - UNC program that cannot mask QB deficiencies the way Alabama could with Mac Jones. Carolina football is mucking around this year since Drake opted out for the NFL Draft but would be a contender for the 12 playoff playoff spots if he'd decided to stick around for his senior year. He's that good, kids.
The key this week is let him play football the way he knows how and take advantage of all that Pop Douglas, Hunter Henry, Kendrick Bourne, Austin Hooper, Antonio Gibson, JaLynn Polk, etc. bring to the table. Alex Van Pelt should give Maye the chance to spread out the defense and make the Texans deal with all that Drake Maye can do in space. Look, he's got good receivers itching for a chance to do their thing. I'm more concerned about the coaching staff clutching their pearls than Drake effing Maye (DFM)! - #GDTBATH
