If matters continue more or less as they are, should the Krafts fire Mayo at season's end?

This. The curse of the terrible uniforms.
I really hope the Pats have completed their plans to unveil the new uniforms during the off-season or else we're going to see these dreadful threads in 2025.

The 2020 to present uniforms just scream "bad team" like the Bucs prior to their uniform change in 1997.

If we’re going with a defensive coach again and that’s a different discussion i would have taken Flores over Vrabel if the Vikings were ok with that.

Vrabel’s teams weren’t very good the last couple of years which makes me think he isn’t nearly as good a coach without a talented team which of course includes us.

There’s also a reason why nobody hired him as HC this offseason.
Vrabel seems to agree with you. He wants personnel control and he seems to be looking for a situation that will give him that.

Vrabel is also just a massive douche by any and all accounts given by any former teammates, coaches, etc.

that is interesting... did not know this...

Even when he was a player with the Pats, he was a snob to the media. He had no idea he was the first of others like Rob Ninkovich and Kyle Van Noy who were just a product of Bill’s system/scheme.

The smaller pads players wear these days and the speed it allows them to fly around is the cause of the increase in injuries across the league.
That is a great point, it goes overlooked by most. Strength and Conditioning will make a difference for soft tissue injuries: hamstrings, Quad, Groin, ligamentous and tendinous. Not all ligament injuries can be prevented, but pliability makes a difference.

I actually really like this idea. @Ian we should have a Mayo subforum thoughts?
No, he's the current head coach, and the current situation sort of is what it is. I think the best we can do is try and ride this out and hopefully when Maye eventually plays, we'll see how that goes.

So if I might sum up, once again...

This. The curse of the terrible uniforms.

You think they're playing poorly now, just wait 'til they don those accursed red throwbacks. It'll feel like 1990 all over again.

Is that this weekend?

I need to update the uniform thread with the 2024 unis... Think I only need the reds ... Though they might wear the silver pants, so there's that to add too

Wonder if they will ever don the 90s blues again... Be cool to see them again... The ones with the monster large flying elvii on the shoulder pads...

Going to be interesting to see what comes out of foxboro this week regarding the team... After everything gets parsed on the all 22...

Eventually the staff has to figure out the whole in game adjustment thing... Right?

Talk about adding insult to injury. THIS team. In red uniforms. Will be indistinguishable from the 1990 Rod Rust Patriots. No, no, NO!

On the first play of the game, they ran for 7 yards, then passed twice and punted. That told you all you needed to know. If you can't pass but you can run, then you run until you can't anymore. That was a continuous theme right to the very end.

Last couple of weekends have made me think Mayo is not right, and AVP is definitely not right. And I had high hopes for Mayo.

But last week we saw mindboggling bad play designs like Tyquan blocking a DT (he appears to have been benched for getting steamrolled by a guy weighing 350 pounds).

This week we not only saw a complete lack of answers to basic football like, what to do when an all out blitz is coming (um, I don't know, a hot read???, maybe??), but also horrendous situational football.

The ending of both halves showed one coaching blunder after another.

You run it for 8 yards on 1st down and then throw it downfield twice and give Miami the ball with one minute left?

1st and 10 at the 11 with a decent amount of time AND all your timeouts and you call long developing plays into the end zone?

Right after you showed Miami was gassed by hitting wide open quick hitters over the middle?

Last 2 weeks have been coaching malpractice.

A very bad job by both Mayo and AVP.

I don't know if Mayo has been hamstrung by AVP but I think he has, and I feel bad for him. But this is perhaps a reason why you can't hire a newbie without connections across the league.

Stacey James doesn't think so.

That didn't happen - there was a glitch at one point, but it's in its entirety:

Working on the transcript now, but that question was answered:

Just on Jabrill for a second, How would you clarify his status with the team? Are you taking an approach of presumption of innocence, and therefore, whatever the charges are, he's presumed innocent? How would you evaluate his status?

"I think I would say, not to be repetitive, but we put the statement out there and we're still trying to learn, get more information, and then we'll just go from there."

"Thank you."
