This was never going to be a great season

The only place Mapu could play is weak side LB.. up around the LOS.. he's about 240.. so that is the only spot I can see him having an impact.. he's not a safety in my opinion..
240 might be a bit aggressive. He was 217 at the combine.
I hope he didn’t add 25 lbs that would negate his best strengths.

It's collaboration without BB, why can't you talk about now... 2024?
Bill had final say until he left over all football decisions. That was his job. He drafted Jones. Jones was 100% his boy and his responsibility.

Either Bill ruined Jones or Bill made the mistake of drafting him with a first round pick. Take your pick, there's no other option.

Mayo said earlier in the off season he added some weight.

So you just wanted someone else then.

Yeah I like the idea of him as LB more too.

We are going to see him soon so it will be interesting to see where he plays and what he brings to the table. Way too early for anyone to write him off yet.
Yes.. I agree. I thought he played well done the stretch last season. He's had thet shoulder issue he was recovering from and still wasn't 100%..

When he's healthy, this is a perfect opportunity to get looks at MLB with Bentley gone. The area which is the most concern for me is his play recognition. He's a very slow at processing the play which also shows up on his college tape. This is what I will be watching closely when he returns.

But if Mayo hoards him at S, then shame on them.

Felt he was a Reach in the Third.
So if we drafted him in the 4th or 5th Rd you wouldn't give up on him but since you think it was a reach you're holding it against him?

I honestly don't know what to expect from him but I feel like he's an interesting prospect as a tweener guy between a safety and coverage LB. He might turn out to be to small at LB and too big for DB. But obviously Bill was intrigued and it seemed like this spring and summer Mayo was too. He just wasn't quite ready to start the year.

I think the D needs a pass rusher way more but they could also use coverage backer too and might be able to fill that need.

He would seem to be more of a unique talent if he could figure out coverage LB. As a safety he would seem to be limited to more of an in the box type safety and we already have a couple of those. Ultimately it comes down to what he can actually do best and not what we want him to do. I'm very much intrigued by him though because I do believe both Bill and Mayo like him.

That's where Mapu should have been taken but BB even went one further and Traded up for Chad Wide-Left in the Fourth. We could have done so much better in that Draft.

My guy X is almost out too he was primed for a big year in my opinion.. I hope he can get back soon. The LB depth is thin.. marte would absolutely help.. who's available out there in FA? Anyone note worthy?

Starting with Gonzo and White that was a pretty good draft.

Ryland sucked but Baringer has been pretty damn good so I just think that is what it is. Hate wasting picks on them but trying to get the best one you can and not waiting until rd 7 or udfa is worth it when it works like Gostkowski or Baringer.

Pats website has him at 230. Here's an article his rookie season:

You know those aren’t actual, just what the player or the team wants to list right?
If he has gone from 217 to 240 in a year and a half that could completely change his game.

Yes.. he said this during the off season.. he said he added some weight and was closer to 240.. so he could be 235 , 238 .
Do you have a link? I’m curious to read those comments and what else he said.
