To me, it seems like Wolf and company knew that they had a big hole at LT but didn’t want to throw a bunch of money at an old guy to fill it when they’d probably just be spending their top pick on the position in 2025 anyway. So instead they just threw a bunch of dart throws at it to try to kick the can down the road 1 year until they can fix it in the next draft.
The problem with rolling the dice on LT is that there is too much riding on that position to take chances. Between the capability of the players and injuries, LT is a miss so far this year, disrupting the entire offense and severely impacting the development of the rookies at WR and OL. If someone doesn't step up and stabilize the position, Maye's development will also be slowed down.

Yeah agreed. As much as it was “inefficient”, overpaying a veteran or even just bringing in more mid-level guys to make sure you had a decent option and ultimately eating dead money was what needed to happen. Right now it feels very penny wise, pound foolish.

18 million over 2 years would have gotten you Tyron Smith and John Simpson. That's what the Jets paid. Maybe it would have been 20. Or 25. That still leaves around 40 million under the cap, assuming you don't sign Okorafor, and THEN you can draft a left tackle in 2025 to develop for when Smith's contract is up.

You can still do all the other signings you did, draft exactly like you did, and think about just how markedly better this team would be, with a very small investment.

Also, very likely a playoff team, or at the very least, they wouldn't be terrified to put Drake Maye back there.

But hey, at least we're sitting on 50 million, right? Keep that powder dry.

I wasn't happy when we Traded Judon but many here felt like we will get a Hofer with that Third Rounder. At least we're not on National Television.
As for me PF2.. I was optimistic still without judon who has 0.5 sacks on the season... but now loosing Bentley and Barmore done as well. I've dropped down My expectations on the defensive side. I keep saying this.. Wolf needs to trade for another CB of impact.. Jones boys play hard but they are undersized. Need to trade for jahire Alexander to pair with gonzo.

I also would say what's also hurting the O line overall is there has been no continuous continuity. No one can set in on a specific position. O LINE needs to have continuity to function. Who ever is out there keep them together for a few games, and allow them to see if they can improve. At this point is the only answer I believe.

The finale… Jets 17 Pats 3… that wasn’t Aaron Rodgers that beat us it was Trevor Siemian. Lol

Shut out at home vs the worst defense in football (Chargers)

Giants game was also horrendous.
Yes.. LOL the giants game we lost to a QB who's mother had just made his bed and packed his lunch.

It definitely hurts, and they're not just going down to their backups but also their backups' backups in some cases.

Gripes with mismanagement of LT aside, if they can somehow manage to get their guys healthy again and spending some time together, they may achieve "average".

I know that many of us have pushed to put Onwenu back at RG (including me) but I don't think they have the quality tackle depth to do that, and I also think that some of his struggles recently have been due to trying to make up for Robinson's poor pass blocking next to him. If they get both Sow and Strange back healthy, and one of them can go to RG, then I believe that would stabilize things a lot. Getting a higher quality player like Strange next to Lowe may help him too (though Jordan has done an admirable job).

Top line: Lowe / Strange / Andrews / Sow / Onwenu

Tackle backups: Wallace, Jacobs, Jones (PS)
Guard backups: Robinson, Jordan, Thomas, Leverett
Center backups: Leverett, Hudson (PS)

Yeah that's very sensible. Good points. It's just so up in the air with strange. I believe he's done for the year. Sow with ankle sprains they can be season enders sometimes. So as you said the back ups to the back ups are pressed into playing.

Robinson and Wallace are rookies we expect them to struggle. However what ever combinations Peter's puts together let them have 2 to 3 games with the line up to gel. No ALL PRO tackle or interior OL is out there in FA that can help us.

Cole Strange, as poorly as he was playing hurt last year, would be the Patriots best offensive lineman by a pretty good margin if he came back at just that level.

Onwenu's been terrible at right tackle. David Andrews has lost two steps, and looks like he's in quicksand.

Also, this contention that Sidy Sow is somehow good is laughable. What..are we even doing anymore, if this is the cope?
That's just it. "If", "when", " probably "... who knows?... also I'm sure whenever he does return it will take him time to get up to speed again. As we all know here. I consider you to be a very good poster who's Informative and Insightful.

The offense line is the only unit in football that doesn't have constant substitution. The 5 men need to be in synch and have rhythm, timing and cohesiveness. We have had none!!

I would definitely be inquiring about DJ Humphries, but otherwise there’s not really anything out there, yeah.

The Thursday Night game is throwing me off, I thought the SF game is today

Wrong thread sowwwwy

Purdy gets knocked for playing with great talent but he’s actually good,
If 49ers are healthy in playoffs I have a hard time seeing them losing, of course they already struggling with injuries but maybe all those guys are good to go at end of year.
We get them at the right time but tough matchup, then our schedule lightens up and hopefully they go to Maye week 5

I expect us to cover the spread.

Purdy isn't Rodgers. It really is that simple.
And the 49ers first 4 offensive options are better than anybody the Patriots have, with injuries and all its that simple

I expect the Patriots to shock the world and win this game! Call me crazy but SF will figure they will have a cakewalk and the Patriots will have 10 days rest. And Mayo must be reaming out the defense...
God yelling at an offense that doesn’t like to do plays past 4 yards is really going on set everything in motion.

Patriots lose bad even if the 49ers play like garbage

If Purdy was the exact same player but was picked 3rd overall with the 3 pick haul they gave up to draft Trey Lance everyone would be like what a smart trade getting a franchise QB but because he was picked in the 7th round people are looking for a reason to be convinced he isn't good.
