Aaron Rodgers is better than Geno Smith, but if they pressure him the way they pressured Geno, Rodgers will crack. The Jets also have lower quality receivers - Wilson is good, but the guys after him are not as good as Lockett/Smith-Njigba. The secondary should be able to match up better.

If Will Levis pooping his pants came within a few yards of overtime against the Jets then Brissett can do it.

I'm curious to see the numbers from the Seahawks game, because I really didn't think they pressured Geno much at all. A few sacks, but outside of those, he was getting the ball out pretty quickly and they were rarely near him. Again, maybe I totally saw it wrong and the numbers will refute me, but if they put that amount of pressure on Rodgers he's going to be fine.

I agree though, that if they DO get to him, especially early, he's more likely to start slipping into some bad habits. Age and recent injury are not a good combo when you're trying to keep your cool in the pocket.

In an earlier post in the thread I also posited that they need to blitz him relentlessly even if he burns them at first, so yeah I agree 100%.

Yeah, I agree. Pressure him and make him move, get him frustrated. He's gonna make plays, but maybe they can force him to make a mistake. The guy is not infallible.

Jacoby Brissett so far - 30/51, 270 yards
Aaron Rodgers so far - 31/51, 343 yards

Any time u get 3 sacks on a QB.. you getting good pressure. His WRs were making plays ours had the day off.

Pressure and sacks are different. If a guy drops back to pass 47 times, you sack him 3 times, but he has time or gets the ball out quickly the other 44, you didn't get good enough pressure. Three plays out of 47 isn't enough. I know they pressured him more than that extreme, but just as an illustration. That's why I want to see the numbers. Sacks are never the whole story.

True. White is a one man wrecking crew. I'd say to anyone that questions our D.. we are without our best player Barmore... we lost our leader on and captain Bentley.
They gave up most of the passes over the middle to Smith-Njigba primarily. Thus only allowing 23 points..

Pressures are good but the sacks are what can take an offense back and put them behind the sticks.. I think we have what 6 or 8 sacks in 2 games.. pretty good. But I see your point the as Jacoby is constantly under pressure.

Brissett is starting to give me that hopeless feeling. With him in there even when we get a lead we can't pull away. And I don't see how he's going to do any kind of comeback if we fall behind. Which leaves the only blueprint being similar to the past 2 weeks and at least that got us to 1-1. But I fear this is not sustainable.

We knew what we were getting and the OL is making it glaringly obvious that it's a problem.
He's a limited QB with PS tackles. Yeah comebacks with him we can pretty forget about. That's why we have to be ahead or keep games close. Like we did yesterday.

We get some type of reprieve as Jermaine Johnson on the Jets is done for the season. So one less rusher.

They Jets have a better Defense than us and have guys coming back later in the season.
Lost Franklin Myers, Lost Huff, and just lost Jermaine Johnson for the season...

It goes both ways. There are plenty of times where QB's are "pressured", but complete a first down or even a big play/TD.

If you're truly getting pressure on a QB, it will equate to sacks which is a guaranteed negative play.

We dodged a major bullet with Bentley.
Sounds like he could be okay, even for Thurs. But, if they rest him and he's full go @SF, that's okay too.

I don't know what JB will suddenly improve on in 3 days. So I expect a Jets win. But it'll be close and low scoring.
17-16 type of game.

Jermaine Johnson being done for the year won’t help matters. I believe CJ Mosley is hurt too?

Run the ball.
Well they sure as hell aren’t going to throw it for anything worthwhile

Their numbers against the run have not been great, right?
No..not at all. The back in SF is pretty good. I say this.. if he keeps it up and CMC with his Injury history will make things Interesting going forward..

Put 2 guys on quinnen and you can definitely run on the Jets LBs..

Also more encouraging news Barmore has been around the locker room..mayo says he still has some stuff to clear though obviously.. yeah I agree.. the offense needs to do something.. we scored 20 points maybe we score 25 points somehow...

This being a Thursday game might help the Patriots. The Jets defensive line (the Patriots will too, of course), might just be tired enough that Brissett isn't taking instant pressure on every step. Stevenson might actually get a yard or two without contact. I expect similarly from the Jets on offense, especially since the Patriots defensive line doesn't have the luxury of rotating, but at least White's a young kid and presumably can bounce back a little faster.

I feel like a short week benefits the better coaching staff (because they're more efficient with the little time they have, and their teams are generally better prepared already). In this regard, it's hard to say because we have so little data on Mayo right now, but I've never been super impressed by Saleh in general. Still, until Mayo proves otherwise, you have to think he's at a disadvantage here.

I think the lack of rest also makes mismatches more prominent. As guys get tired, their technique and concentration start to slip. So lesser talented players who might have otherwise gotten by on pluck and discipline are now more likely to get exploited by more talented opponents. This can go both ways, as I think it might accentuate the Pats ability to run the ball, but also will make the Jets pass rush pretty fierce. If they can stay on schedule and keep the 3rd downs short, they might be able to wear this Jets defense down over the course of the game. If they end up in a lot of 3rd and 8+, Brissett might actually get killed.

Bentley is on IR with a torn labrum.
