NFL GAME DAY DISCUSSION 2024 NFL Kick off Thursday Night Game Thread: Ravens at Chiefs

Yeah we always seemed to get key injuries that impacted our sb runs whereas the chiefs just magically stay healthy.

Kelce is like Cal Ripken of NFL tight ends.
Thuney last year

Vs Tampa both OTs were out.

Prime Patriots played the Chiefs twice in 2018 and while you beat them, you certainly didn't own them. The football gods simply sided with you that year.
That wasn’t “prime patriots.”

Nah, Brady owned Mahomes. He’s having a nice little run now though since he doesn’t have to face Brady anymore.

you’ll soon be hearing all about how it wasn’t Mahomes fault in the SB and it was all his OL fault. the people who say this are always crickets when it comes to how bad Brady’s OL was in SB 42 and the 2015 DEN playoff game

Andy Reid is just such a good play caller. 80% of the time Mahomes just goes to first read and they are open, and he's just amazingly accurate. The other 20% of the time he just runs around until someone else is open. I do notice he throws the tip balls, the picks, the almost picks way more when he runs around, after the first read isn't open. To beat them you need to take advantage of that if and when he does it but Andy Reid with Mahomes is just deadly.

No talk on how Lamar Jackson takes 20 hits in a game at a weight less then Jayden Daniels. In the playoffs last year, he refused to run, how is he going to hold up 17 games and want to run in the playoffs? Still a very overrated passer, he HAS to run to win, but he has to now hold up at a lighter weight. Is he going to fade down the stretch?

Derrick Henry seems kind of cooked?
Wish we drafted Isaiah Likely last year!

Great game, miss Pats playing in those big prime time games, quality game once the refs stopped calling that stupid penalty over and over again

Thye just need to change the rule so the lineman's front or back foot is so many yards from the line of scrimmage, the Ravens guy stands more straight up so looks like he's further back than the guy that bends forward in his stance. So much easier to use the feet, lineman and refs can easily tell then. Change the rule, nobody wants 5 plays called back when every tackle is close to doing it on every play.

Funny that the score is almost identical to last season's Chiefs vs Zappe led Patriots who had 52yds rushing and that stellar receiving crew led by Parker.

You had me until ‘dolphins’
I did say “if they got their stuff together” which is a bigger IF for some teams than others. lol I guess the Jets might technically fall in that bucket too but that one seems too implausible to happen

Opening this up ahead of kickoff for anybody who would like to follow tonight’s game.
The Ravens O line looked like the Patriots O line. Though all pro Ronnie Staley was Ronnie lowe.

Mark Andrews is an all pro TE, didn't understand the game plan of not utilizing him..

LOL I still Don't see the vertical passing attack from KC.. Ravens O line looked like ours..
They had a couple middle to deep passes to Rice and Worthy and one to Kelce. Some of that was still Mahomes improv rather than schemed passing attack but if Worthy plays like that they'll be plenty of deep chances for them.

Your right it seems more scheme than anything. I think they are like we were during the winning. We were more efficient and scheme than a vertical attack.

Wouldnt that be "we" since you told us that youre a Pats fan?

Brady handed Mahomie his 1st post season loss.

Brady gave Mahomie that Super Bowl loss too.

Andrews is either still recovering from his injury or he’s really lost a step. He looked bad last night but it could just be taking him time to get back in game shape. He caught a ball and literally just fell over when he could have easily had a first down.

If he does get back to form they have a pretty lethal combo with him and likely. Boy is likely a stud. Zay would be pretty special with a pure pocket passer imo. Excellent picks

Agree. He probably was still recovering he hasn't played ball in a long time. That was the AFCCG we watched last night. Yes likely is a nice player.. zay his quickness is elite. The Ravens O line looks like the Patriots O line. Henry was also starting to pick up steam don't know why monken went away from him.

Said it during the game, Baltimore has the talent and build to take down kc every time. But

1, kc is in their heads. In the playoff game last year i cant remember the stat but the rb’s barely got the ball in that game too. It pains me to say but it reminds me of how we used to be in certain teams heads and let them beat themselves. So much about the current chiefs unfortunately gives me certain memories.

2, Lamar doesn’t have that killer instinct on the big stage. Zay and likely were both open on the plays before and its a throw any elite qb should make with his eyes closed

L Jackass 122 rush yards and of course he fumbled.
D Henry 47 rush yards

Mark Andrews had 2 targets all game.

Jackass supposedly lost all this weight in the offseason because why? To become a faster and more evasive running back in 2024 after last seasons failed experiment of LM trying to be a passing QB. Last season LM threw 457 times the most in his career. 100 + more passes than in 2022. Good luck going old skhool trying to be Mr Everything because it always ends poorly. Just ask Mike Vick and RG3.

Thst wasn't anywhere close to being prime Patriots. They were on their last run
12-17 those were prime Patriots of the second dynasty.
