It's time to move Onwenu back to RT.

We’ll see… Robinson looked good against lesser competitors. Rookies often have growing pains. Anything is better than Lowe by default.

It's not just game reports. He looks good in practices too, running with the ones.

It's not uncommon for mid-late round guards to start as rookies. Thuney/Shaq/Sow/Onwenu come to mind.

Agreed, if the addition of a rookie guard into the mix is better than the addition of a rookie tackle then do it. But we’ll see what it adds up to in real games.

Sounds like they might be entertaining moving Onwenu to RT and promoting Robinson to starter. This is a less efficient use of Onwenu’s abilities but does upgrade RT, and Robinson has shown pretty well. If they have 4 guys doing a solid job then that’s a pretty good spot to be; they can overcome a spotty left tackle. I’m not sure who that would end up being, whether it’s really Lowe or if Okorafor takes over due to injury or otherwise, or if Wallace gets a chance.

Two straight practices with Onwenu at tackle.

If everyone stays healthy, and they get some play from anyone at LT, this could be an NFL unit.

Then next year, make the first two picks tackles.
Agreed. Wallace might be OK at RT in his second year. Lots of guys take a second year leap, and I was surprised at Wallace's quick feet.

If Wallace can become a starting RT, and Onwenu becomes a full time RG... then we'd have 3 guards who can start passably well at LG, competing for that one starting spot (Robinson, Strange, Sow).

How far fetched is it if Strange learns to snap? He's not practicing anyway. Get him doing 500 snaps a day until it's perfect. And get him a VR set where he can practice making all the line calls with no contact.

Strange is incredibly athletic with his weakness being the bull rush, so at first blush I would move him to LT before Center, but the Pats have never done that. I am not sure why Strange can not play LT. Mean, tough, quick guy.

I agree. Arms just shy of the 34” mark, though. Otherwise a more athletic Matt Light.

Good point. The combine numbers say Strange has 33" arms and Light has 33.5" arms. Light's arms are on the shorter side, so maybe Strange's arm length is a concern?

The previous administration was always searching for candidates to play a different position, yet I can't recall Strange receiving one snap at tackle.

Definitely has the profile of a tackle. Seems like he would be less likely to get hurt as a tackle also.

Yes, if he were a high school all-star coming to my college program, I would look at this profile and consider training him to be an OT.
=======
As it is
1) Strange is an experienced slightly below average NFL OG.
2) Maybe Sow is better (and has a better future at LG) or not.
3) Strange is a 2024 ASSET. There will be injuries. He is, at minimum an OK backup OG, when he returns, better than Leverett and Jordan.
4) For 2025, there be camp competition. He will be tried at other positions. I think that his most likely spot is starting or backup LG. I think that he would get reps at OC, as all potential IOL's do.

IMO, Strange is worth more in trade than as a developmental LT taking up roster space.
