Wolf on the OL: I *Think* We Have the Pieces to Compete... Oy Vey...

Only a few years ago we would be saying “it just takes time for the OL to gel and BB’s teams do not start gelling until Oct/Nov”…but since it’s a new regime and our expectations are set so high, extremely high if I may…that the sky is falling since we do not have 6 AllPro level guys out the gate. I love the enthusiasm a lot of us have. We just need to temper said expectations and maybe, dare I say just maybe…lower the bar a tiny smidge of a bit. Just so we don't put ourselves into a bigger issue with the OL (if possible). Like I’ve said in other posts…let’s give it some time
No one is asking for an all-pro line. We’re asking for a line that doesn't give up 50 sacks in practice. If we can get this season what we got during the Eagles 2nd stringers but against teams starters, then I’m good. I think the problem is most ppl aren’t expecting that and all that is is an average at best oline.

Looking at the 2025 FA T list.....they will have no choice but to find someone via the draft.

I'm beginning to think firing the greatest coach of all time because he couldn't draft and then keeping the entire personnel department intact may have been short sighted.

Yeah, that was an interesting decision, as was reupping most of Bill's defensive picks. Most likely the personnel department told Kraft that they were being ignored in the picks, which was probably more or less true. They have probably three years to prove they can do it better.

Interesting and some would say BB didn't have the final say Hmmmm.

I would’ve fired most of the personnel department too, at least those who’ve never had a job outside of Foxborough.

I think that we will have 4 solid spots covered on the OL with LT being below avg. I think that Maye has such a good temperament that he will not be affected to negatively if things are not going well.

Why do you think it is most likely the personnel department was feeling ignored?

We need to trust the staff to coach up Maye. After all, this is their #1 priority.

GM speak. Was anyone expecting him to come out and say “man our OL sucks…Lowe can’t block a corpse”
Wolf has no choice either way. I think the complaint this time is that he wasn't positive enough because he said I "think" instead of "I know."

These are the type of statements we heard from bad franchises during the dynasty years. It’s quite shocking to see people on board with this new regime.
What's really shocking is hearing the folks who want to bring back the last regime, you know, the one that left us in the ****ter on offense.

The statement “it’s a work in progress” is the truth in the same way the statement “it is what it is” is the truth. Technically true, but completely meaningless. If you're saying that you'd like him to use more "GM-speak", I can understand that. At times, I think this new regime is too honest, which can leave them open to misinterpretation and increased scrutiny.
I watched the new HC in a presser and he actually smiled and answered questions. If I'm a reporter trying to make a living or a fan trying to enjoy the games, I'd find this new regime a breath of fresh air compared to the last one.

This team was going further and further into the ****ter the last five years with a historically inept offense. A change had to be made.

The biggest obstacle to the team turning it around was the expanded salary cap. They had oodles of money to spend but the increase to all teams allowed those teams to hold onto the players the Pats could have had. It was either bad luck or a plan by the Goody & the 32 to keep the team down.

I love the revisionist history that says that Bill didn't have the final say, you know, now that we see what a mess he left the team in.

It's the same for the coaches as it is for the players. They can't replace everyone and Bill left a lot of holes to be filled.

I really like the idea of a former Patriot as the HC and I'm going to give him some time.

How about the complaint being - I'm tired of the double talk?

If you can't be honest at the beginning of a rebuild when can you be...

I think Tom Curran said it best...

"I found that to be a knee-buckling disappointing answer from Eliot Wolf," Curran said. "I mean, either he's naive, or he thinks we're naive, or he's being disingenuous, or he thinks we're stupid or he's stupid. So I'm gonna go with disingenuous.

Only if the team wins. No-one will care about smiles at press conferences if the team loses.

Not the entire Team just the anemic Offense.
