OT: Tua on Flores

I'm not aware of any coach who treats his QB like Tuna handled Bledsoe or in this manner.
Welp, me neither but I've seen personal trainers go at people in gyms and elsewhere. And getting paid to do it. Humans, go figure.

And that's a line that these Belichick assistants always cross
It is amazing how the BB coaching tree goes Full Hardo when they get the big job title.
All I know was that Tua was a massive failure when he had average to above average offensive line/weapons…and THEN …..miracles of all miracles …..Miami signs the human cheat code Tyreek Hill…and Hill single handedly saved Tua career….just throw it out there decently and Hill will do the rest!
1000% agree Hill has elevated an offense like no other since Randy Moss though Justin Jefferson might disagree.
That said......
Let's not discount the value of hiring a modern, offensive guru....Mike McDaniel.... who has designed and retrofitted an offense to accentuate Tua's strengths.

When you hire a defensive coordinator as HC, is it any surprise the offense will likely be less dynamic, less of a priority.

If true, Flores tried to use the BB school of coaching TB12, who responded with the greatest NFL career of all time. There's studies supporting negative reinforcement can be more motivating/achieve a better result than positive reinforcement (i.e. the FU, I'll prove you wrong factor).

Part of a modern HC's job is finding out what motivates their players. Tua didn't respond to that type of coaching. Non-story for me.

My only question of concern: have any of these guys that complain about being mistreated by Flores or Patricia or McDaniels ever won when the going got tough? Stafford I think is the only one but Stafford has said in precise detail in the past that he had a very good relationship with Patricia and that he was always in Patricia's office.

If you really can't handle this kind of tough criticism, I'm not sure you have the belief in yourself to perform when things get really tough. AFC Championship, down in the 4th qtr, the pass rush is putting a hurt on you, and you have to lead your team.

Tua really hasn't proven anything in the NFL. Neither has Carr from the Raiders.
There's a difference between harsh criticism, and what Flores was doing. Flores was legitimately just putting Tua down and taking out his disappointment on him. Flores made it clear he wanted herebrt or deshaun, so he took his anger out on Tua

Even minkah Fitzpatrick didn't like Flores. Neither did Flores's assistants

Yes some players respond to it. But even bringing up Brady is flawed and when Brady himself get tired of it and left

unless you think Brady suddenly got soft all of a sudden in 2017?

And most players who were coached by Parcells still commented on how also gave positive reinforcement if I recall correctly

There’s a difference between criticism and ****ting on someone. Tia played and excelled undef Saban who’s known as a tough coach.
This

I'm not a big Tua fan - he's a sullen, narcissistic twit - but Flores mishandled him badly. Bill's coaching is looking pretty punk, eh?

Flores, the guy who is suing the league?

It’s not the coach it’s the pupil. Those that don’t like tough coaching are really those that need it most.

And which of Bill's assistants have ever produced anything in the NFL?

Thank you, they always ignore this.

Again, Tua handled Nick Saban just fine.
Perhaps. And that was before he had money when he was trying to get to the nfl and get paid

Tua has been paid, his current head coach thinks the world of him. It seems like he’s just blaming someone else for when he wasn’t playing well. Look Flores probably was a jerk to him and didn’t bring out the best in him but let it go and move on, you’ve been paid which I don’t understand.

Now hes got a clown coach who is really nice, and he and his team folds under pressure

But coach dances at practice!
Back to back playoff appearances for the first time in 20 years...

As opposed to Flores's head coaching which led them....?

To be fair I don't think he had spoken about Flores before this

They don't want to admit that the new generation of athletes are different now compared to what they were in the early 2000's. For better or worse, there is a different mentality and if you're a coach who refuses to adapt to it then you're going to be gone. Bill was able to rack up the wins and accolades before the shift and he also had the greatest player of all time buying in and helping relay his message. Down the stretch when even Brady got sick of Bill's methods the writing was on the wall for the old school hard ass approach.

By no means do I think every coach has to act like some sort of rah-rah hugs for everyone type but there does need to be a balance. What I have found even in my profession is that this generation needs to know "why". They don't just blindly follow orders but they will take direction as long as you're clear what is asked of them and what you expect. Yes, some will attempt to abuse or exploit a more equitable approach to management but there are always those types in every generation. Romeo Crennel might be the only one of Bill's disciples whose ego wasn't ultimately what cost him his head coaching job. Crennel might ironically have been too far in the other direction on the tough guy scale in an organization (Cleveland) notoriously devoid of leadership and discipline.

The Dolphins definitely crapped out last year but everyone seems to ignore the fact that down the stretch they lost their backup RB, starting LB, best pass rusher, second best pass rusher, half their starting offensive line, and had a hobbled Tyreek Hill.

Most on here that don't like McDaniel dislike him because he is the anti-Bill.
