This is a glaring statement from our GM that the line is a bit of a shambles... "I think" we have the pieces to compete just fills me with dread and is an implicit admission that the OL is not in a good place...

The line from the second game was constituted was lt lowe lg sow c andrews rg onwenu rt okorafor... I was not overly impressed with their play in the first quarter of the game... and that was against Phillys 2's... there was a lot of consistent pressure inside the box, and that does not bode well for a team that wants to run first... Dre is a good back... but much like the previous years, if the opposing defenses and crowd the line, stack the box - however you want to term it - the offense is going to suffer...

There was another statement from Wolf about be aggressive when the cutdowns are announced... this further bothers me, knowing that we might/will probably be looking at adding a vet or two, guys who didn't go thru camp here, and may not have an understanding of the new line schemes... and i fear that those late additions will be pressed into a starting role, especially of we are able to bring in a tackle or two...

I hate being so negative, but I am concerned that this line is going to be bad...

Game 3 is really going to be the indicator of who the starters are going to be... its getting late in the day in regards to sorting out the starters on the line...

If he believes that he's a fool. If he doesn't, he's a liar. I look forward to the sound of the door hitting him the ***.

Does he know about Left Tackle? LOL

I think they have a CHANCE to be good enough, but someone has to play adequate LT and if they find 1 guy that ends up doing that then he'll end up right. Lowe, Wallace, Okorafor, even Onwenu?

Not sure they have that guy though based on that list. The other positions I think are solid enough.

Another issue is that the OL backups are a lot worse than the "barely acceptable" starters. Maybe Robinson would be OK if pressed into service, but the backup tackles and centers are bad. We are a few injuries, that always happen, from having a really bad situation.

Right tackle is as much a problem as the Left.

There were outright ugly plays vs the Philly subs in game two on both sides of the line. The interior is ok. Not great, but passingly serviceable... They would be better with better tackle play, no doubt.

But the Tackles were just plain bad.

It’s almost as if building, managing, and maintaining an NFL roster is … hard? Who would’ve thought.

If only we could find a GM who demonstrated the ability to do it at a consistently high level. Oh well …

Based on the Eagle game? Interesting view, maybe you had unrealistic expectations?
Taylor Kyles, Evan Lazar, myself and others all looked at all-22 and very encouraged by the line and Tackle play. PFF rated them pretty highly also. None saw what you saw, for sure.
I thought the line was bad in Carolina, I was really encouraged by the Eagles game, the coaching seems to be of the highest quality. There is a glimmer of hope based on Eagles game.

I saw a lot of pressure in the backfield.

Not sure what you were watching.

We need a lot of players. When they were available to us during free agency we put a pad lock on the vault, so now we will grab them at bargain basement prices when they are no longer wanted by their team.

It’s going to be interesting to see what the current excuse defending the front office if “our 4 win team is so stacked none of the dozens of available free agents were worth signing” morphs to when we are signing castoffs.

This is a clear example of how PFF is garbage. It’s amazing people actually pay for that ****. Their line was bad on Thursday.

Kyles has also said Baker and Polk have been “unguardable” during camp. It’s not translating against opposing teams.

it says to me he knows that they did not do enough to address the line in the off season.
I agree, but I think the consensus is there weren’t better tackles available in free agency. Once they decided on Maye, it was going to be hard to also get a premium tackle prospect. I think they knew at that point they’d have to make do and fix it next season.

You have at least a three year wait.

Get blanked in free agency - Then it should have been a higher priority in the draft.

And Evan Lazar and Taylor Kyles don't know how to watch film either, I suppose?
You saw these plays and days in camp and say they were wrong with what they said about those camp days?

We have multiple people watch film and clearly spend hours of work on it and in great detail show you why the line play was not bad vs. message board people with, yeah, line was bad and PFF sucks.

I think one side has more to back up their argument.

I strongly disagree.

RIGHT TACKLE
We could start Onwenu, Wallace, Okorafor or even Sow. All are better RT's than any of our LT's.

LEFT TACKLE
The team has chosen Lowe as the starter.

SWING TACKLE
Okorafor or Wallace are the only choices. Okorafor is awful at LT, and Wallace has had very little practice.

We need to add at least one LT.

the BOTTOM LINE
is that we are OK (certainly for a bottom ten team who is rebuilding) at SIX OL positions: starters and backups at all but LT. I LIKE Sow, Andrews, Onwenu, Robinson, Leverett and Wallace. I suppose that I am OK with Okorafor as a backup RT, making SEVEN
