There is more competition for roster spots than I first thought. This makes sense for a 4 win team.

Twelve OPEN ROSTER SPOTS (28 plus free agents and others I haven't listed competing for the roster spots)
OG Leverett, Mafi, Jordan
LT Anderson, Lowe
6th WR Schuster, Thornton, Reagor Boutte
3rd TE Bell, Wilcox
3rd QB Milton, Zappe
9th &10th DB Austin, Wilson, Dial, Bledsoe, free agent, free agent
7th & 8th LB Oche, Ximines, Ellis, McMillan
5th & 6th DL Watts, Ekuale, Roberts, Pharms, Hill
K Ryland, Sly

It is the same every year. How can there be more competition this year when there are 90 guys in camp competing for 53 spots every year?

I call this my "best case scenario" 53 man roster projection. I'm over by one so take one off.

I traded Juju for you.

Our WR situation is shaping up to be very interesting.
Locks = Douglas - Bourne - Polk - Baker and KJ Osborn.

Schuster, Thornton, Reagor Boutte = very interesting group here a player or two could stand out. Saw Thornton in some workouts and he looked really good you can literally throw Tyquan's First Two years out the window... Rookie year then Disaster last year. Seems like Tyquan not only worked on his Slender body which it's not anymore but he's worked oh his release packages. AVP's Offense love Vertical threats which is Tyquan's game. Juju has looked like the old Juju in workouts he's a Big Bodied Receiver who can make tough catches over the middle with his frame. On Boutte surprised they hung on to him he does have some talent interesting to see his year two development.

Wozzy you're carrying too many Tackles Zuri Henry PS also Onwenu can play RT. Seven WR's seem a bit much I think if Juju and Thornton brings it they are locks with Bourne possibly starting the season on PUP. You're carrying way too many CB's also.

I said cut one, the onus was on you.

I hope Zuri Henry surprises in camp and Calvin Anderson is healthy, that makes Chuks expendable.

I don’t know if Bourne is healthy enough to start the season. Also there’s probably only room for one of Thornton or Raegor… we’ll see.

You are correct. No players are sure if their roster spots. We need to wait until the final cut to see whether Gonzo makes the 53.

No one is forced to speculate. If you have no opinions on roster spots, that's fine.

mgteich is quite sassy lately. I like it.

I think Anderson, Uche, Ekuale, & McMillan from your list are locks as well. For me, the open spots are:
QB3 (Milton, Zappe)
WR6 (Shuster, Boutte, Thornton, Reagor, Wallis)
TE3 (Bell, Wilcox)

DL6 & DL7 (Hill, Pharms, Roberts, Watts, FA's)
LB7 & LB8 (Ellis, Ximines, Giles-Harris, FA's)
DB10 & DB11 (Austin, Wilson, Bledsoe, Dial, Hearn, Hawkins)
K (Ryland, Slye)

43 Locks
10 Open

Of course, injuries will change this list, and I expect Bourne and Strange to start on PUP/IR, so those two spots will be temporarily open as well.

QB3 = Milton. The new regime will move on from Zappe.
WR6 is WR5 & 6 because Bourne PUP as Fuzz noted. It will be Schuster and Thornton.
TE3 - who cares?
DL6 & 7 = Roberts and Watts
LB7 & 8 = WOW! Barf
DB10 & 11 = Hawkins and Wilson
K = Ryland

Actually not many positions open. Injuries will happen. Depth sucks - look at LB or Harris at RB3 or TE3 as examples of no depth.

Your 25 of OFFENSE (I also keep 25)
1) You also list Zuri Henry as under PS/IR/PUP. I agree.
2) You list Robinson as on the 53 but also injured. I agree with him being on the 53.
3) You set a patsfans 2024 record with 8 WR's (7 on the 53 plus Bourne on PUP or IR. Someone trade Schuster for you. That leaves 6 with one going when Bourne comes back. I replace Schuster with Hasty, a ST/RB
BOTTOM LINE: Schuster out, Henry out, Hasty in, Milton in

Your 25 on DEFENSE (I have 24)
5) I have Watts making the 53 over Hill or Ekuale
6) 11 DB's is at least one too many. I keep Austin over Dial and Hearn.
BOTTOM LINE
Ekuale or Hill out, Watts in
Dial AND Hearn out, Austin in (not really opposed to Dial instead)

Pats keep 11 DB's more often than not. They've actually kept 12 (including Schooler) the last couple of years.

They only had Jack Jones on the 53 for a day. In any case, I think that 6 corners, 3 safeties. a utility DB plus Mapu is MORE than plenty.

I've edited my depth chart above since it was confusing as I listed Zuri Henry and Layden Robinson in both. Since this is my best case scenario depth chart I have both making the roster.

Bourne starts on the PUP, I count 7 WR's. I also list 54 players so someone has to come off, a trade of Schuster would be a best case scenario. I also believe one of Thornton or Reagor makes the 53, probably not both.

DB's play special teams, Isaiah Bolden might be more special teams ace than he is a CB. Watts, Ekuale and Hill are all back of the roster guys, I don't care about any of them particularly, but Ekuale played decent for them in a reserve role before getting hurt, Hill is athletically gifted but not productive, Watts is a third down pass rusher at best. We'll see how this shakes out, my roster predictions were always way off compared to what actually happened... but again, that was the old regime. Guys like Ferentz who had no business making the roster are long gone.

Seems mostly still wide open competition at most of these positions.

A couple of things have shaken out or are shaping up. Juju is gone. Milton looks like he’ll be on the 53 as QB3. Barmore won’t be taking a DL slot. Pharms and Ximines seem to be stepping up. But still a lot of questions.

Anybody want to take a shot at updated predictions?
