Will Maye beat out Jacoby for QB1? I saw a video of Bourne calling Maye QB1! Will Polk and Baker break out? Football is back baby!

Jesus...what is with the cheesy little kids photos the Pats are doing? This was the type of **** we didn't see when Bill was around. Is Mayo going to hand out orange slices and Capri Suns after practice too?

Hehe he's trying to connect with this new generation unlike Stoic BB.

To date everyone has done their best to demonstrate how different the new world order will be now that the dictatorship has been overthrown. It was needed to clear the air after last year and help distract from the loss of an all time great NFL mind. Now that camp is here I anticipate that Mayo will start to show his harder side to prepare the team for the demands of playing actual games against tough competition. Wolf has already started to transition into NFL reality with the Godchaux and Judon contracts.

Agreed here. I've said as far as coaching strictly coaching Mayo will be more Bill like than people will realize. Not a personality aspect but a coaching aspect.. the fundamentals, the teachings, the principles things like that. On wolf it's said that contract extensions have bee. Offered to them.. from this point on it's going to be up to those guys on if they want to sign. Guys are allowed to show thier true personality every organization should operate that way.. the more comfortable guys can feel the better than can do their jobs on the field.

There is a middle ground between BB's strict authoritarian rule and chaos. I think it is a good sign that Wolf has made his offer and is holding the line. Players need to be comfortable, at the same time they need to be held accountable for their performance and ensure that their personality does not negatively impact other players or create unnecessary distractions. Baker will be interesting, I hope he can maintain a healthy team dynamic.

That is true. You can have a healthy balance.. when you push to hard you won't get the response from the players that you want. Players are an organizations investment everything needs to be Done to ensure you maximize your investments in them as men. Bill had that military background and as I've said when you have one constant at the QB for so long it's easier to enforce your coaching style.

Having stability at QB makes everyone's job easier. The owner has his face of the franchise, the GM does not have to invest expensive resources to find that guy and the coach has the most important piece for executing the game plan. At a minimum a known quantity at QB ensures that the team will be competitive year to year. To me, Drake seems like the real deal. He has already demonstrated that he is committed to excellence, even if it takes a year or two to be the guy.

Shades of Pom-pom Pete...

This is way worse than Pete. You don't have to be a hard ass, but taking pictures like this is ridiculous. These are grown men and professionals. Mayo hasn't really shown anything that he's going to be some savant game planner which I why I think this is going to end up being a disaster.
J Polk will have a better rookie season than Terry Glen. RIP.
That should be filed as a bold prediction. It won't happen unless Maye is a stud from start. Brissett isn't going to be able to get him the ball enough to make that case.

Well said! As we know we witnessed this for the better part of 19 seasons.. something that will never be done in the NFL again. That's why is so important to find out early that the guy a team selected is the guy that can run the team.

I fee like Drake possess that. I love everything I've seen about him. He seems like he oozes confidence, he has a charm about him that seems to be natural and peppers was already raving about him during the off-season program and minicamp.

I don't know if it was stoicism as much as it was understanding the one common thing to every person in that facility: we're here to do a job together. Regardless of generation, they all wanted to play football.

I do think there's merit on being modern for younger generations, but hopefully it isn't at the sacrific of the bond that pulled all of them together - their labor on the football field.

Which I don't think we've seen any hint of such sacrifice, to be clear. I do think it's hilariously on some live/laugh/love vibe type **** though hahaha.

Bill himself has lauded Mayo's football brain, being one of the first people to tell him to get into coaching.

Gronk said he was the Brady of the defense, getting everyone lined up.

While he was running the defense with Steve, it remained pretty stout.

So far we have way more promising info than anything to suggest we have a disaster. I agree, it's hard to feel super confident given we just haven't sent him in this particular role with this responsibility. But we've been given no reason to think it'll be a disaster, either. While cringey, the photo thing doesn't mean much overall, except that other teams have a new insult to lob.

Of course Bill is going to talk Mayo up, he was on his staff. Regarding his time on defense, the LB’s have been a problem for years and are routinely exposed by any team with speed. Most of the time coaches who are promoted to HC are known for something around the league. Mayo isn’t known for anything.

In fact, since 2020, Bill’s defenses have had a very difficult time against any team that’s .500 and above. I understand their offense has been bad, but you can see how much talent they lack on that side of the ball. Both Miami games are the best examples of how offensive players blow right past them.
