Ah, so I see - all this *****ing isn't about the NFL players, but about TAXES! Dun dun dunnnnnn!!!!! So can we get rid of the political talk, please?

so someone pointing out a fact that taxes are lower in one state vs another is political lolol...maybe in your head, not in most

Don't get carried away it's Barmore only embarrassing Rham can be replaced and Strange is just well a horrible use of a First Rounder. I never forgave our GM for that ridiculous selection don't get me started.
OK, so give away Marcus Jones for nothing because we have so many All-Pros on this team.

Defense will Never be a problem on this Team we'll always replenish it's the dated Offense we should get into this century. Bolden and Austin are going to be very good with Gonzo hated losing Jack Jones though he's a knucklehead and true #2 CB.

The post I responded to was about getting rid of taxes and complaining about the supposed low-tax (which aren't states). Nothing political there.

And as for your "fact"...lol.

Chris Jones buckled his knees already damaged goods sorry his Fifth year option won't be picked up. Also Strange is not very good.

Okay, if every guard who got beat by Chris Jones wasn't worth re-signing, we'd just have to eliminate the guard position altogether.

But okay, aside from the fact that the difference on the highest salaries in the NFL, tax-wise, state to state is SMALLER than the entry salary of a 7th Round Draft pick...

To answer your question, HERE...this is one of hundreds of studies that have shown the same damned thing:

It's even got pretty maps and everything.

Bottom line: you're focused on INCOME TAXES only, and yes, for rich people, California (which has the most rich people, the highest property values, etc.) hits them the hardest. Yes.

But for everyone else, those Nirvanas you seem to think exist actually hit YOU (unless you're rich) as hard or harder than the high-income-tax states, and that's not even accounting for the crappy services (Massachusetts is always near or at the top in Education, Health care, and quality of life - always).

My sister moved to Florida, falling for this same nonsense. It took her a couple of years, after I asked her to actually do a deep dive on her taxes in New York before and FL (high sales taxes, fees, and property taxes- all much more regressive than income tax) now, including looking at her sales receipts, that she realized it really wasn't any different. And that's not even accounting for the extra for trash pick-up and home insurance bills (she's not on the coast) that are $3500 more than I pay here in a house worth more than twice her house there (that's 7% on a NET income of $50,000).

That's why.

That's why I said "insipid".

So yes, for people making millions, those places are advantageous - but for people making millions, if they care about a couple of percent, they've got issues far deeper than their money.

And as I said above, the DIFFERENCE in taxes is less than the entry salary for the 53rd guy on the roster - that's why it's nonsense.

And PS: since I hope this will be the last word on this from me, the supposed TAX CUT from 2017 on the Federal level was a tax increase on many people in MA and in CA because of all the deductions they lost due to the SALT limitations. If you own a home in MA or particularly in CA, your taxes on that home alone will hover around or even be above the $10,000 limit, and then the income tax above that level will no longer be Federally deductible (at a higher rate than the state tax). There's a reason that places like Orange County CA went from red to blue - that "tax cut" cost many of those people lots of money.
your whole premise so ridiculous. you make the previous post out to be political, which it wasnt, then go on this ridiculous rant. and the funny part is you say its only advantageous for rich people (WHICH IS WHAT RIDLEY IS NOW). But then basically say, well, even if it does benefit rich people, "if they care about a couple of percent, theyve got issues far deeper than money."

youre the political person, you hate rich people.

heres the bottom line.
$100M contract. 0% StateTax in Tennessee. 0 taxes
$100 contract. 7% state tax in MA? (im not sure what it is). thats $7M in taxes.
so a $100M contract from TN is a $93M contract from Patriots.
thats the simplified version of things.

as for your sister. my guess is shes probably not that rich. average people dont move to florida becuase of the state tax benefit. it may be a small consideration, but state tax savings probably isnt in the top 5-10

I am rich people. Nice try, though.

Simplified because you're wrong, on multiple counts...but do continue.

The difference in a $20 million (year) contract is less than a 7th rounder's starting salary.

why trade a WR away after losing brown and trading for a backup qb who is bad wtf

I'm not sure Rondale Moore is any great shakes either. Seems like a warm body for a warm body.

im right. its simplified, like i said, not a complete breakdown.

Have no idea what this has to do with Marcus Jones. He's a special player. All the guys you mention aren't in his league. But besides that, defense has been a problem often for the Patriots. It was a huge problem just 2 years ago. It was a problem between 2009 and 2013.

“Playing for Miami will save him an estimated $2.7 million in state and local taxes this season alone,” writes Jared Walczak, vice president of state projects at the Tax Foundation. “Had he played for the Jets this year, he would have owed an estimated $3,191,968, of which $2,984,409 would go to New Jersey and $207,559 would go to other states. Playing for the Dolphins, he will not owe any income taxes to Florida (which doesn’t have an income tax), but his away games will yield an estimated $474,519 in liability elsewhere on the $30 million he’ll make this year.”

Yeah, genius, you're so right that you don't even know how taxes for athletes work in the major sports, let alone have any comprehension at all at the difference between 95 million and 100 million.

We'll I'm living in the now.

Also, while I hope there's enough continuity to keep this defense rolling, we really have no idea exactly how impactful Belichick's (and his son's) absence will have on it. Specifically, how much of their success finding UDFA defensive backs, or coaching up guys like Earthwind Moreland, Alex Austin, etc, is the result of Bill versus just the general defensive philosophy. There's some unknown coming on defense. Hopefully it keeps chugging, but we need to see first before we start jettisoning good players because, "We've always been able to find replacements at that spot."

you may be rich, but i can guarantee you didnt become rich via accounting
