I feel like pairing a 30 year old WR with a 21 year old QB isn’t the best formula.

Can't even believe they offered 22M. Mike Evans got about that.

22m/yr, if true, would have been agent spin. It is all about the guaranteed money. We will have to see the details of the Tennessee contract and how likely the incentives and bonuses are to be earned but for now it is a 4/50 contract, not a 4/92. He wasn’t getting $22 million per year guaranteed from the patriots.

You can’t compare Ridley to and Evans. This was probably Ridley’s only chance for a big contract. In contrast, Evans was highly motivated to finish his career in Tampa, and clearly gave them a hometown discount. His per year guarantee was significantly higher. 2/35 vs 4/50.

I like McCarthy too. Just don’t think you can trade back too far. Vikings, raiders and broncos are going to want to get up there for a QB

Maybe but Id prefer

Trade down McCarthy,
Trade up for the top WR on your board
Trade back up for the top WR on Your board.

Even if you have to trade resources for the next draft.
Need a LT and you’re not going to get him beyond the second round. The ones in FA are not capable of being trusted to last a year.

We have some guys coming back.

We need to get tackles in free agency and hit on one or two late in the draft.

Thats setting up Maye and Daniels to fail day 1.
Cousins, The bad news is we have no top WR in the bunch now. The good news is we can stop the nonsense of Drafting one of the Holy Three and now consider a WR at #3 or Trade down and get a QB later. You have no choice but to get a WR now when the top three all have issues. I would take Penix, Nix McCarty or Rattler as long as I got a WR.
I know this won't be popular but why not take a shot with Beckham who played the full season for the Ravens and was decent. Beckham, PFF’s No. 5 true free agent wide receiver, entered the off season projected to earn a one-year, $7 million contract. He finished second on the Ravens in receiving yards last season (565). He's a year older than Ridley?

Well they have no QB, lousy weather, and really no offense to speak of other than Stevenson. So yeah its easy to see why an offensive player would not want to come here unless it was absolutely necessary.
How is this relevant to Ridley, when it is clear that he took the money? The Titan’s offense also blows. He’s not going there because he feels that their skill position players give him a better chance to succeed.

If you gave me the option of 17 games of Brissett versus 17 games of Levis, I’m taking Brissett and if the Pats take a quarterback at 3, their quarterback situation will be immediately better than Tennessee’s.

3 to 7 is the furthest I would go.
I wouldn’t do that. Giants are way too risky. I think you only possibly pair up with the Giants at 6. But even then you run the risk of the Chargers trading down for a load of picks at 5.

I’m not opposed to rolling with McCarthy. But I’m opposed to playing with fire and trading your way out of a QB altogether.

after drafting davis in the first rd and adding luvu they add another LB

Titans are like the Pats. They need to pay the premium on a decent player in order to improve. That contract sucks but the Pats are going to have to overpay on anyone good.

Thats why the only real avenue to get a star WR is trade.
30 y/o Ridley is not a “star” receiver that I’m gonna break the bank for. For a younger, better player with less risk of being a head case I’d want us to do what it takes. Not him though.

So with the Ridley Deana over, if the Pats want any splash FA signings, they’ll have to be on Defense.

Thoughts?

Armsread or Rankins for the DL?
Simmons?

Although they might wait till the draft, seems weird they were willing to go 22 mil for Ridley but are now good with not pursuing anyone else. Sure they may not be a pure #1 out there but there are solid WRs that would benefit a young QB/Brissett
