So, reports are Caley is the front-runner for OC.
I'm starting to get worried about the youth in this coaching staff.
They better bring in a few older guys as position coaches, or add a solid no-bull advisor / asst. HC... maybe like, say, BB.

MassLive changed their headline on the Nick O'Malley article. It originally stated that Zac Robinson turned down the Patriots Job. Now it mentions nothing about Robinson talking to the Pats.

Buffalo - Miami plus Jets with Rodgers Fourth best team in the division.

It’s going to be a young coach.
I think the ol coach, wr coach, QB coach is just as important.

You're not just subbing him for Mac or Bailey. You are giving up draft capital and cap space. and your also not starting Mac or Bailey in 2024 regardless of Fields.
Might as well just sign Gardner Minshew, better QB than Fields, and you are just giving up cap space.
Brissett was better than Fields as a starter and would be less cap space.
You have better options than giving up draft capital for a QB who wouldn't be here in a year.
I see what you are saying. Let me say this. Mac and Bailey are not QBs you want to have on Your roster with the new draft pick coming in. They both believe they are starting QBs In the NFL they had an ice cold relationship and neither in my opinion are real leadership type of guys I'd want around my draft pick. Bailey shut his mouth because he wanted to be the starter. Mac was the starter and questioned things. I'd want a new QB room Brissett, Fields and draft pick! Would be ideal. Of course with some weapons.

Alright dude made one mistake and you're trying to write him off BB made a 1000 and get's the @upstater1 pass.
Oh, BB made 1000! LOL. Yep he was so bad we couldn't win!

You're on the record for why and when you developed a hate for Belichick, and it was before he was finished winning Super Bowls.

That's all I need to know.

PATHETIC

You say the nicest things.

@upstater1 ok let's stop derailing the thread it's a Coaching Candidate thread. Now back to our regularly scheduled program.

You say the nicest things.

You're the one who laid it out for everyone. Don't put words in my mouth. I just repeated what you said about the reasons you've hated Belichick for a very long time. I'm sorry you destroyed your own credibility, but you have only yourself to blame.

The Commanders. The owner is on the record as wanting to sit in on all coaching meetings. He selected the guy who not only committed one brain fart after another in a Super Bowl, but who came up with an ultra aggressive defensive plan against. 1st time starting QB in the playoffs which allowed his defense to be shredded to bits. 47 points. Great choice! These teams are going absolutely nowhere BECAUSE they make bad decisions like this, and because their owners meddle and destroy everything from within. Sounds familiar.

Hmmmmm I don't know...

Its not just that they are young….its an alarming lack of experience in coaching leadership roles

I'd actually like the idea bringing BB back as advisor/asst role but can't see that happening since Steven didn't take DC job. Anyhow few older guys with experience is must.
I get that they want fresh start and change the course but filling all coaching positions with young minds is not the answer imo. Also i'm not 100% sold on Caley if they are planning to replica McVay's system. He was almost decade here and one season in Rams so what he can really bring to the table.

Good players find a way. .
Sure, the very top players find a way.

And perhaps we can find a college QB that will succeed no matter who is coaching them, their system, and team talent. How many of these QB's do y'all think there have been in the past 5 years? in the past 10 years?
==================
The reality is that college QB's need a lot of coaching and coaching can make a huge difference. It was agreed that Mayfield was a total failure. McVay took him under his wing and then vouched for him. TB picked him up, coached him up, build an offense around him and won their division.
============
QUESTION
If Jones were cut/traded after his pro bowl year and we secured Mayfield, how successful do you think Mayfield would have been under Belichick, Patricia and Judge? Surely, we would have been in the playoffs again and again. NOT!

As we saw in DET and TB, it is not coaching experience that is the issue. We need a QB coach and OC who are willing and able to use a QB to best advantage. How many thought that Goff and Mayfield were playoff QB's?

I doubt that they would have been under Bill and friends.

Caley has 10 years of coaching exp. at the collegiate level and 9 in the NFL (all on offense) working under McDaniels, Belichick and McVay. He's a two time SB winner.

There's always a firsr time for everything. Team will be fine.

We don’t know who the OC is let’s see who we tab.

another board violation in this fact free zone

If a poster says that 19 years of experience under 3 top football minds is a lack of experience, then it must be true and a reasonable statement.
