Not sure what is taking so long for Covington's promotion. If they really wanted him, I think it would be done already.
Perhaps the Pats are waiting on another candidate like:

1) Steve B if his dad does not get a HC job
2) Vrabel if he does not get a HC job
3) Wink Martindale

5) Leslie Frazier

If Reid retires (and I am not set on the notion he is but speaking hypothetically) then they will vet any HC by Mahomes. If Mahomes lobbied for Belichick, I could see it happening. If Mahomes didn't approve of Belichick, then there's no way it'll happen.

My inclination is. The B boys were holding out for pops in Atlanta. We know now that is a done deal. I think they remain here. Mayo likely already has decided on covington he just needs to make it official already.. I doubt Bill coaches anymore. Just my thoughts.
