Mayo's Coaching Staff [Discuss Coaching Candidates Here!]

Based on that article, I don't. Nothing's official until it is.
He said he wants his coaches to care about the players and build that trust and that gardening the seeds being the players is more important than x and o’s on a chalkboard.
I’m expecting a young coach and not Mcdaniels, cause we know how his relationships have been with players.

It’s a coach we aren’t even thinking about right now.
But I bet he will be under 40.

This seems right.

The issue becomes just how much of the decision-making they allow Wolfe and Groh to make. When Belichick was coach, the Kraft's did indeed step in and veto some of Bill's decisions. Obviously, there will be more now, but not necessarily a great number. IMO, there will be additional hires and better definition of roles, but not necessarily the hiring of a GM who will be in charge.

I think that is all about right. I would only add that once people start looking for approval, the owner usually gets more and more involved because the employees do not want to step on the owner's toes. It is human nature, that is why it is better to appoint a GM to minimize the owners involvement in football decisions. Having said that, Jerry Jones and his son, working with the Cowboys scouting team, have drafted pretty well. Maybe the Krafts will appoint a GM - we will see.

Mayo said he thinks titles in the building are important so I think we will see titles handed out.

I also saw Kraft and co was talking to Pioli as an advisor.

Issue with BoB and the offense is that there were 6 games last year when we scored 7 or fewer points, and in 5 out of those 6 games we scored no touchdowns. Add to that the excruciatingly slow starts, only scoring two first quarter touchdowns all year (not counting the Reagor KO return). We didn't score a first quarter TD until week 7 vs Buffalo. Granted a majority of that falls on the players & execution/penalties, but it does make one question the efficacy of the offensive game planning.
Never a fan of BoB…..not as OC or when he was HC…..I hope we move on……need someone outside of the organization for fresh ideas/outlook….if they bring back McD…..get ready for more Mac

I think we will see fresh faces.

Mayo talked about removing weeds form the garden.
I bet he sees Judge as a Weed.

so, we just gonna be running the Bill Belichick patriots without Bill here??

not that I don't think McDaniels is a good OC. but just seems kinda odd we get rid of Bill but then gonna keep the same front office and bring back McDaniels to run the offense.

was it really just about replacing Bill the GM?
Agree ….. if you are going to keep everyone else that was in the Belichick regime… Especially those that only know division and viewpoint of Bill Belichick… You are going to still have Belichick way here…..nothing new….little change. That’s why I was hoping That they would bring in an offensive minded head coach… One of the top offensive coordinators out there and the rest of the coaching staff from scratch… Of course, there is the mindset that by not changing many of the pieces right now they can get back to the top playoff team/Super Bowl contender quicker so maybe that’s why

That’s funny well done….he and achord are weeds to me!
I honestly feel he has been watching the coaches evaluating in his mind who he would keep when the time comes and who he would see as someone who doesn’t fit in with the culture he’s trying to create.

Judge is def one I could see him wanting out.

I don’t think it necessarily disqualifies McDaniels. We’ve heard relationship problems in Denver and Vegas as HC, but never heard that as a problem in NE and St. Louis. In fact, Nate Solder and Ryan O’Callaghan cited McDaniels as the person they opened up to and had the best relationship with going through their situations.

I think it’s just another case of a BB tree guy trying to be like Belichick and failing. The Patriots defense of the late 1990s thought he was very personable, and were a little surprised by his demeanor when he became HC. That happened because Belichick now viewed himself as their boss and couldn’t get too close (in his view) or he couldn’t make an objective decision on the player. I wouldn’t be surprised if Josh adopted the same view, and why we heard the complaints in the head coaching stints but never here or St. Louis.

In honor of the late NEM (avatar pic), I suggest that the Pats look at the Ole Miss OC……

Charlie Weiss, JR!
Weiss Jr was at U South Florida and he was horrible!…..granted they never got the best groceries but they had some good playmakers and he was not a good coordinator…..maybe he is doing better at Ole Miss

Judge isn't a weed, he's a cancer.

Kraft and Mayo (which is the most serendipitous partnership name ever)...
both drilled into the idea that they'll be taking time to evaluate and consider, etc, etc...
But, they better not dilly around long on the OC position.
That will be more a determination of how this team goes next year than the change from BB to Mayo.
And I'm hoping it's an older, established guy who can see the big picture and has A LOT of say in the player acquisition process.

As I have said, without a source, Bill needs to decide whether he wants BOB or Josh. Mayo can take the other.
I can't see how in the universe BOB would follow Bill again. After all the reports of how the staff went, how the oversight of "his offense" was mandated. BOB is more likely to go coach a ACC college than be the puppet of BB again.

As far as Josh coming back - I don't know. It may have only worked because of BB protecting Josh from imploding (and Brady).
There's clearly something wrong with Josh's ability to lead and communicate.
If they sign him back, I'd be terrified that Mac would be the "bridge" QB, or they'll sign Jimmy G. MOVE ON!!

I have a feeling that they know it's a multi year rebuild and they could get a good haul by trading down and they will try to go with a bridge QB and investing more assets in the overall team.

Seeing how Love,Goff and mayfield have rebounded with better co a ching and better supporting cast , Mayo and Kraft might be seeing that as quicker path to relevancy rather than drafting the next QB unless the targeted QB falls to them.

Might get quite the haul From bears by trading 3 to 8 and getting their second rounder this year and 2025 1st/2nd along with fields. That way they get caleb williams and MHJ and we get fields, 8th pick ( OT), 2nd rounder 2024 ( qb)
