What if we *Don't* hire a GM?

If he moved him out of his contractual position he would of breafhed the contract in sure of it. But that doesn't matter because I'm the presser, Kraft explicitly said he didn't want to extract value out of Bill and that like Brady, he earned the right to go where he wanted without Krafts interference. So basically Kraft already said that while fans might find that unacceptable he felt it was right.

No, I agree with this. I just personally think he extracted the entire 25 mil.

I know if I was being fired and expected to play ball and tell everyone this is a mutual decision that I would be demanding my entire payout so I can double dip with my next contract.

I obviously don't know this to be a fact but with all the circumstantial evidence it seems like this is exactly what he did.
well, i hope he got the full 25m... i;m sure he could use the money & them real estate taxes on Nantucket can't be cheap

I love Dugger, but we have Mapu, peppers still at safety.. we also need to be trying to obtain a natural FS so peppers can do his damage up around the LOS.. I'd expect big things from Mapu next season. Owenu I believe is the more urgent thing. I love our CBs.. Jon will be 32 and has been injury prone but is a excellent CB, Marcus is lighting quick and instinctive. However getting another top tier CB would put us over the top. Can never have to many good CBs..

I agree with all of that. Need a real FS. I think we can get by without another CB this year. Need QB, LT, and WR more urgently.

I've always said the team needs a QB, LT and WR.

These are 3 of the 4 hardest positions to find.

I rank them like this:

1. QB
2. CB
3. WR
4. LT

Hopefully, they can find at least 2 of the 3 missing this year.
Imagine this offense

QB- Daniels, veteran, Zapp
O line- new LT, strange, Andrews, ownenu, mafi

WR- Higgins, Douglas, KB, juju, Parker, draft pick

TE- Henry, brown, draft pick
I agree with all of that. Need a real FS. I think we can get by without another CB this year. Need QB, LT, and WR more urgently.
The injuries at CB this season was apparent. However the coaching staff did a remarkable job with guys stepping up. I'd like to have some more depth at CB.

No to Daniels. BUST

Love the idea of Fields with a second also doing a deep dive on Nix and Pennix.
Yes. I think the logical scenario would be trading for fields. Still taking a QB late in the 1st I think we have the 33rd pick as well? Allow fields, draft pick, Zapp play it all out in camp.

You think Daniels would be a bust? Ok here is my other scenario.

2nd for fields...
More in favor of Fields for sure.

Daniels' throws lack zip and look like they will be easily picked in the NFL. He's throwing to 2 first round draft choices who snag them.

Doesn't seem to have the arm of Maye or Williams.

I'm ok with bringing in Fields or drafting Penix in the 2nd.

Look at all those typos tho. Jesus. My bad.

you think BB rents his homes out?

ehh, time for a Patsfans.com get-together? party time, Nantucket-style?
We should start a contest and the winners get to go to the Nantucket party. What would the contest questions be?

Mafi as a RT? You are creative. Did you apply for the open GM job at the Patriots?

Jon Jones.

Marcus Jones in the slot guy.

Bryant/Wade/Austin as depth.

I would not spend a huge amount of draft capital on CBs though or trade for one right now.

I will say this conversation is showing how Gonzalez was much more than a luxury pick last year. Looks like he was actually a need.
Depth, the #4 CB, plays a lot. I'd all that position backup, and the others depth.

In any case, Macus Jones has shown nothing to make me believe that he should be our starter at nickel back. Both Bryant and Wade are ahead of him at nickel. For me, Marcus is our #5 CB, which is a fine position, given that he is one of the best punt returners in the NFL.

STARTERS (need 3): Gonzo, Jonathan, ???
COMPETING FOR #4 CB and #6 CB: Bryant, Wade, Austin, Bolden, Wilson
PUNT RETURNER and #5 CB

Perhaps the staff has judged a couple of the backups as being a starter. Personally, I'd be more comfortable with signing a free agent CB (and free safety).

someone else who is fine with Miles Bryant (or is it Marcus Jones) as a starter

I suppose that I would be OK starting with what we have, but I would prefer an upgrade owe Bryant at starting CB. Was he really so great this year that we now think him a starter? Has Marcus Jones gotten so much better while injured to consider him a starter?

I've seen Marcus Jones play CB and absolutely stick to the WR like glue. He's a natural in coverage much more than Bryant and Wade. Definitely not drafted as a special teamer
