F this Caleb Williams.

Who is he to direct the Bears to trade out of the 1st pick so he can enter the NFL draft?

Any time a player does this they always come out looking like the entitled brat. I can see Williams issues with the Bears. Their track record at QB development is not good. You’d have to wonder what Fields would look like playing under a HC with an offensive background.
Elway did it, but he was the real deal. He was engineering game winning drives back in peewee football.

Eli Manning had his dad involved.

Richardson (Not elite. Good chance he will be).
Lawrence (Not elite. Very good)

How could the Patriots possibly consider not getting a franchise QB out of this draft? The conference is stacked.

You won't get an opportunity like this anytime soon.

And the Tua/Jimmy G way does not work. They've shown that they are limited when everything is not perfect. See Tua the past three weeks and Jimmy in the SB.

Well stated we have seen WR's take over games ie... Chase - Hill - Jefferson - Digs and others we Desperately NEED one of those guys and it could be Harrison Jr.
Let's be real. You could line up Randy Moss out there and I'm sure Jones/Zappe would still find ways to throw interceptions!

K Cousins we see what he did with J Jefferson.
Justin Jefferson is pretty elite though.

Cousins might be a decent stop gap veteran to get us competitive in the regular season but not somebody I'd see as someone who wins you playoff games.

Question on that.
Is your round grade with ignoring that they are a qb and will go much higher than their overall grade, or is that factored in.
Assuming the former, what are your thoughts about how to draft a qb if they all get drafted way higher than their value?
If I recall correctly, you were a big fan of drafting Fields? Not sure if it was you though. Might of been another poster.

I wouldn’t know, as I won’t be watching Mac Jones in a Patriot uniform again. If they care so little about winning that they try that again then they won’t be worth watching.
Yeah, why lose Mayo’s job after it has just begun?

One thing I learned from Mac and armchair qb drafting is don’t fall in love with college numbers. Especially with someone who has all the weapons at their disposal. This is why Penix and to an extent Nix and spook me a bit.

When Michigan neutralized the Joe Moore offensive line of Washington what did Penix do? Reverted to a lot of bad habits, throwing off his back foot, he needed to make short to intermediate accurate throws to stay in that game and he couldn’t do it. Even with Odunze and that talented wr unit.

Nix as accurate as he was all season, in the 2nd game vs Washington their defense got a ton of pressure and he looked uncomfortable for most of the game. Got to admit though, I love his back shoulder throw better than anyone in this class. Don’t think he’ll ever be “great” but he might have a Purdy like ceiling.

Both Maye and Williams were considered to have down years playing on bad teams but their intangibles stick out even in losing efforts. Arm strength, running ability, making exciting plays when there’s nothing there. Scouts love these type of players and could give a crap less if others have thrown 40+ tds as long as their skill set translates to the NFL.

For me I’m definitely leaning towards Maye. Pedigree, A+ personality, dual threat. I like Williams too and would be ok with his enormous talent as well. Not so sure about Daniels as I’ve only watched 2 LSU games this year. He looked really good and Nabers is a beast and so is Thomas.

However it ends up at least we know we are getting one of Maye, Williams, Daniels, Alt, Mhjr, Fashanu, Bowers or Nabers. Someone elite will be in a Pats uni this spring. We never get to pick in the first 30 minutes of the draft so it is rather exciting to anticipate.

Ill keep pounding the desk in saying give me a QB at #3 doesn't matter who the FO/coaching staff likes just get a QB.

I want Daniel’s, but that’s an early take as I haven’t read and seen enough about him to know if he has the mental toughness and leadership skills that an NFL QB needs. As far as athletic ability goes he has what it takes without question. But I’m also biased in that I would love to see them play with a true dual threat QB, as it would give them a dimension that’s been lacking, and fits well with today’s NFL. I would be fine with Maye as well, and probably even Williams, although his attitude about where he plays is really arrogant. He’s currently saying that he won’t come out if Chicago picks 1st, which is a bluff, but also a concern for the team that takes him.***Update: It turns out that the Williams story is ********, which is good news. So, like Daniel’s and Maye I want to learn more about him to determine whether he’s got the head and leadership skills to become a really good NFL QB, because the athletic ability is clearly there.

I hear people talking about taking a Tackle, but this draft is really strong at the position, and I believe they can fill both needs with franchise caliber players by going QB at #3, and then trading back up into the 2nd half of the 1st round for the tackle, and right now Tyler Guyton, the tackle from Oklahoma is the one I’m looking at there. If they take this route they can address their 2 biggest needs on day 1, and have the rest of the draft, and free agency to address their other needs.
