Welcome Jayden Daniels! Pats next qb

If you don't fix the Offensive Line I don't care who you put at QB, they are not going to succeed. This is not going to be a popular take, but draft Joe Alt and have him as the cornerstone of your line for 10 years or more. Take the best available QB with the 2nd pick (that may be JJ McCarthy) and WR or FS with 3rd. The risk of taking a QB high and have then turn into a bust is too high. Take the safe pick and then forget about the backside of the QB for 10 years. I would sign a veteran QB to play for two years until that rookie is ready.

If the Bears stick with fields (I believe they will) Washington will prob make a play to move up from 2 to 1 for Caleb Williams. Chicago will take MHJ at 2 leaving us with the decision between Maye Daniels and Penix.
whats wrong with sam howell?

You guys are right, the QB room is fine. Just draft a tackle and Bailey Zappe will lead them to a bunch of Lombardi Trophies. Or maybe Trevor Simien will come free and he can come in and light it

Some mocks have him going before maye.

Also I wonder if wash will have reservations over taking another unc qb?

Maybe if he drops to the second but otherwise no thanks. Almost half of those pocket escapes are sacks in the NFL. We need a QB for 10 years not 3. Not surprised that the same people calling for BB to be fired have questionable tastes in QBs. It's highly likely that every coveted QB in this year's draft is a bust but in the event there is one that is not my money is on Bo Nix.
I haven't really watched Nix except for a snippet of the 2nd Wash game, but I'm surprised he's only been sacked 5 times all year to go with those 3 INTs. I just worry about his... intangibles... I'm not gonna say he's gonna pout and nut tap people, but maybe he's grown up in those years.

Daniels would be my pick out of all of them, though, because after watching the worst games for CWill, Maye, Penix, and him, Daniels seems to be the most composed under pressure. It sounds like the fancy QB VR work was effective.

But yeah, this could be 2021 redux "best QB draft of all time" crap. I'm with Morse. Fixing the OL should be the top priority. Preferably a highly rated tackle (ideally with a great 20Shuttle time).

Daniels looks like the best of the bunch but they all seem pretty awful. Draft bpa, most likely a tackle, and wait for next year. Its not like they are a qb from winning everything anyway.

Penix is out of the discussion as far as I'm concerned.

In the history of BB's Patriots, we have drafted these players in the top half of the first round:

Richard Seymour, Ty Warren, Jerod Mayo, Mac Jones, and Christian Gonzalez (after a trade back).

Mayo was also after a trade-back.

Yeah but you just ignored my point. It isn’t about durability, it’s about lower body strength, where most of the throwing mechanics are generated from. Quads, hanstrings, glutes, calves. Brady clearly was very developed despite his reputation for being skinny…upper body like biceps and chest are really overrated at the position.
Jayden Daniels runs with real power and elusiveness and bounces off defenders. His athleticism is next level.

Ok he's not built like Leonard Fournette but he's a different type of an athlete, more like a greyhound or a cheetah than a Clydesdale.

Just a reminder Lamar Jackson was 6'2 208 at the NFL combine. He has done absolutely fine in the NFL without having tree trunk legs.

Finally. A tall mobile qb!

Stay as far away from Daniel’s as possible. That guy sucks and nabers bailed him out all year.

Don't really see how these plays translate in the NFL level unless he's Lamar level athlete.

Yeah I don't know about him either... Most of these highlights showed him either running, chucking bombs or tossing corner fades...
Where's the actual, you know, quarterbacking?

I don’t think the leap from Maye and Daniels to Williams is so great that you should sacrifice a top 30 pick plus a 1st next year where you are probably still picking in the teens.

Of course, if Williams turns out to be insanely good in 10 years we will be pissed they didn’t do it.

I like Daniels too but not more than Penix Jr and if he looks the part which I think he will again Tonight all bet are off. Stop selling Penix Jr short he looks like the real deal.
The problem with Penix Jr is that he looks like damaged goods. He was nursing an injury during the end of the National Championship game after just taking one hard hit and he wasn't the same after. I don't blame him but I'm really leery of his injury history. Too many major injuries and surgeries have added up to him having probably a very short shelf life even if he manages to be successful at the NFL level.

He’s actually no smaller than Lamar Jackson or Randall Cunningham coming out of college. Hell, he’s essentially the same size as them in their prime. Lamar is 6’2 215, Cunningham 6’4 212 &. Daniels is 6’4 210. He’ll also add weight/strength during his initial years. He’s got some things to clean up (they all do), but he’s a heck of prospect.
Listed as 210
I read somewhere he is 185 lbs.
He looks like a twig

Edit: I found it
ESPN’s Mel Kiper called Daniels “a game manager who is also a supreme playmaker” and noted he could be ranked fourth behind Williams, Drake Maye, and Shedeur Sanders.

Doubts, however, mostly start with his frame: Daniels is an ideal 6’3, but is expected to weigh around 185 lbs at the combine. That helps Daniels run around a 4.5 and that could make him among the fastest QBs in the NFL, but as he bulks up for the league, his speed will naturally decrease and change his threat as a runner. Jackson, for example, weighs about 30 lbs heavier than Daniels. Skepticism extends to his arm, as “inconsistent throwing motion” and lack of engagement between upper and lower body is a concern for his accuracy, timing and power
