I Guess Jack Jones Did OK

On the old Raiders JJ would have fit right in.

BB has his faults but inability to coach up DBs ain’t one of them.
It's interesting. On one hand he turns coal into diamonds with DBs, yet on the other side of the ball, he cannot develop a true WR if his life depended on it.

The patriots finally gave up on him. Folks here thought that he would lose bundles of money and perhaps his career.

And now, Jack Jones is celebrating. His high school and college coach claimed him.
He got cut from his team for immaturity, which is next in a long line issues, and someone took a flyer on him on waivers. An at least half the league said to guy making peanuts for free.
Yeah, lots to celebrate.

Because coaches don't really control when their DBs on the field get involved. They don't make the plays for the other team, nor coach the QB who throws that way.

WRs can only do so much - the OC and the QB give them, or don't give them chances.

BB knows how to shut down playmakers on the other side's offense, probably better than any DC ever. Maybe he has developed an aversion to those playmakers...

He can develop see guys like Pop or Jules. But it seems he can't just hit on one in the early rounds it really is kind of a strange blind spot.

Back in the 70's, don Zimmer was the manager of the Red Sox, and everyone thought he hated pitchers. I cannot help but think you're on to something a bit.

Those pretty boys that play outside the numbers on offense. They aren't real football players.

The problem is Belichick's first rule is to never throw players under the bus. He's not going to tell us why he let Jack Jones go, but obviously something had to have happened since the trade deadline.
Unless it's Tom Brady, then you lay the entire deflategate scandal at his feet. Kraft choosing Bill over Tom was an all time blunder, but hard to blame him given Tom's age and Bill's reputation (undeserved) at the time.

I think most of it happened before the trade deadline. I think if it was something new and big we'd have heard what it was. I think it just hit it's limit.

I suspect Jack will go on and be pretty good and make us mad but who would be surprised if he gets in trouble again.

I think trouble means different things to different people.
the guns/airport was stupidity. yet legal in some states (not Mass)
late for curfew is breaking a rule, but trouble?
the team took the tough stance and tried to discipline him thru playing time. it backfired as he lost his effort. the result was poor play on the field, and a devalued asset, over some stupidty and breaking a rule.

as I said earlier, if the team wanted to move on, fine. but getting zero in return?

Fauria and Gresch were speculating that JJ shot his way out of town as soon as his personal coach got the job with the Raiders. The Raiders coach has ties to JJ's family, so is not hard to get the word out that the Raiders would sign him if he managed to get cut by the Pats.

BB GM gone, BB coach gone, his kids gone, BOB gone, Mac gone (worst mechanics I have ever seen outside of pop warner), Zappe gone - (exposed). I think Robert also gone shortly. Hand over the keys.Better not bring in Josh - need to blow that whole offense up. BB tried to do it, failed badly in copycat mode.

Mayo has been promised but if he keeps to much of the Patriot Way he won't last long. Patriot Way do your job, don't over reach, don't need big plays, collective, team wins. Bend don't break, wait for them to make the mistake. Need 3 positive plays to be able to get most first downs.
I don’t see that one…

Owner of the NEP is Robert’s identity…as it would be mine in his place.

Certainly, JK is more involved but I can’t ever see RKK totally disappearing

I’ve been pondering this.

It’s obvious hindsight, but if I had to do it again I trade Bill, keep Tom, have Josh become HC.

Yeah yeah Josh sucks blah blah BUT I suspect he’d have been fine with TB12 bought in, and the Pats org around him.

Put more weapons out there for Brady and another run may have happened

Lol at the lengths some will go through to put down the team and Bill right now is silly. This is on Jack period.

of course it is. but we hear that a few teams put claims on him
if the Pats were going to move on from him, could they have extracted something for him?

What was his trade value? Who was hurt in the defensive backfield at the time? I think at the deadline it was a need and still hoping he could turn it around here. Obviously that was wrong but that's not the real problem here really the problem here is Jack.

Yep; now he gets to spend the next 2-1/2 years in Vegas baby to wash the 1-1/2 years of BillStank off him.
Does anyone really think he'll survive 2 1/2 years in Vegas.

I’m surprised many of you didn’t see how bad he was in preseason getting beat like a drum in coverage and being shaken off like a chihuahua when attempting tackles. The main red flags on field were his slender frame and inability to tackle.

I’m shocked he even made the team.

We don't know exactly why this kid was let go at this time, but it's a good guess he wanted to shoot his way out and succeeded. Apparently "my way or the highway" isn't what it used to be cause he managed to find the yellow brick road to LV instead.

We got much bigger issues than if releasing Jack Jones will ultimately be bad for us and good for him.
So far that seems to be the case but without a offense who cares about a decent defensive back.
Jones really did nothing to build on his solid rookie year. He has potential.. but at it goes attitude is everything. As you perfectly said.. we have basically a expansion team roster offensively. Goes to show just how talented Gonzo is compared to the rest of the DBs.
