If you play him the rest of the season and does ok, not great just ok, does another team see him as fixable? Does it increase any type of trade value. I’m afraid if you don’t play him the rest of the league would see him as completely finished. Another first round bust…

Agreed, more likely it was an emotional reaction in the game. But... Mac is the most viable option.
hmmm, i think i would categorize that particular benching as "jfc, we've seen enough"

If he could get his head together, i'd agree that he is the most viable option... but he's out there second guessing himself n nearly every play... kinda reminds me of david carr in houston...

at the very least he needs to be sat for a few weeks until he gets his head straight

This is where what's left of the pro-Bill crowd gets emotional. I don't "hate" Bill. I love what he accomplished here and loved the ride but the ride is over now. It becomes more and more clear Bill Belichick is no longer fit to be a head coach and GM in 2023 and the situation at backup QB is just one of the numerous areas he has dropped the ball. You can get upset about people calling out the situation in the quarterback room but Bill has completely bunged the post-Brady quarterback situation.

I won't even get into what happened with Brady but his succession plan was either Stidham, until he went to a wedding, Brian Hoyer, and then a broken down Cam. When it became clear Cam couldn't play he swung and missed on Mac which I won't kill him for but he doubled down on Brian Hoyer only to release him a year later for daring not to blindly follow his asinine decision to make Patricia and Judge OC/quarterbacks coaches. In the middle of all that is Zappe whom he has set up to fail multiple times now with the Bears MNF nonsense and what Bill did to him on Sunday.

Bill has botched the quarterback position and we have officially bottomed out. Thanks for the memories Bill but please stop embarrassing yourself every Sunday.
To be clear, the emotion I feel is annoyance that every post from the anti Bill crowd must include a historical list of mistakes that he has made as if it was a personal insult. I have been a fan long enough to know what real incompetence looks like and understand that all draft picks, especially QB's are a gamble. The discouraging part is that BB's track record drafting QB's is actually pretty good with a number of draftees still holding jobs. Mac was the right choice at the time, he got enough time to prove himself and now it is time to start over. It sucks, but it is the reality of trying to rebuild.

I hope he is done but honestly I wouldn't be surprised if he isn't. He shouldn't have played as long as he has so why not more. Ya know, really stick it to us fans to watch a qb unable to pass in a passing league. Not even the Jets punished their fans like this. They benched Wilson for Mike White and Rodgers while we made no effort to change within the same time frame.

Yeah he's that bad Mac could will us to the #1 overall.

To me.. he doesn't trust his protection, he's scared to make a mistake, his top playmaker is not out there in KB, teams are loading up on HH.. no one outside Pop can make a play at the WR position. All that = a QB that's playing not to make a mistake rather than trying to make a play.

I can't believe you're still making excuses for the guy.

I say no. I think the reason Belichick sent Zappe in to send Jones the message that Zappe will be the stsrting QB during the bye, and going into the next game. But it’s possible that Zappe has a short leash as well, we could end up seeing Grier for much of the remainder of the season.

I think Jones is toast in NE, and this could be the last we see of Zappe as well.

Wozzy.. it is what it is at this point the ship sailed I'm not making excuses just calling it like it is..
I told you how it was a month ago, he sucks royally and it's not because anyone "ruined him."

He's the same exact player he was as a rookie, only now teams have film on him and know exactly who he is.

"Good for a rookie" is only good for a kid who just arrived, if you're the same player in year three you stink... he stinks.

If he's mentally weak, which he is... he stinks. It's not because of his line or weapons, it's him.

Yeah after 3 terrible relief appearances, if he starts, Zap's literally got only one shot do not miss his chance to blow this opportunity comes once in an NFL career. If he can't make it there, he won't make it anywhere. It's up to him.

I think they will start Mac for the Giants game, beyond that who knows. Practice reps as we get closer will give us a good clue, i'm sure.

Not sure if some else already said it but if they do go to another QB, that's gotta be it for the season. You have 3 other QB's you can play, you bench healthy Mac, he's done.

If they end up benching Mac, I would like to see Malik Cunningham play. At least he'll make the games interesting and why not see if you can find a spark.

Does it really matter at this point?
Yes, dont throw the Bambino out with the bath water. Keep playing Corky and keep the narrative real that he has nothing but 5hitbums on offense.

Some team needs come calling with a high draft pick and a plan to resurect Corky.

I agree with this. Also Lowe is complete trash. Can’t wait for a new GM and coach who understands that QBs are only as good as their line.

Breaking down how Mac Jones had four men open and decided to butt fumble it up into the air for a WTF.

For old times' sake. What could've been.

Probably the worst interception I've ever seen, just awful. Mac's brain is fried, accommodated by horrid OL play. Greg Bedard pointed out that rush pressure in the Colts game was 67 percent, average being around 30 percent. Mac was shellshocked in the first half and began dropping his eyes to the rush. Lowe is little more than a traffic cone.
