So will Mac Jones end up being remembered as the guy who ended a legendary coach’s career or will Bill remembered as the legend who ruined a QB’s career? Going to be interesting to see which way this goes
Neither

Bill will be remembered as a defnesive mastermind who needed Brady in order to fully realize his vision for a football team as a head coach

Mac Jones will be remembered as what "any average QB with Bill" would have actually looked like.
Mac Jones will be remembered as “that ****in’ guy that we had after Tom. Max Jones or whatever his name was.”

So Matt Cassell was better than average? What about Vinny Testaverde?
I should have said "what any average QB would look like long term".

Matt Cassel was one year. They wouldn't have sustained that (09 worse team, harder schedule, marquee players retire).

And testerverde was their for 3 years and so far... it's looking eerily similar to Mac

Injury explanation works for a season like 2015. But 2023 marks the 5th year of decline - if there's no marked upswing once OL health improves, I don't see why one would expect another year of the same to bring better results.
Agreed. But that's what if he already hasn't has sold to ownership. Then again as I've made mention he's 71 into his wonder years in life.. he's taken on more responsibility instead of the opposite over the years. It's shown in his judgements and decision making. I'll also say. When he become HC he inherited some alphas to help establish what he wanted to build as a culture. He doesn't have that anymore.

Shore up the offensive line and i suspect then Bill will be a better coach. Heard an audio of Dante's 5 key coaching concepts a couple days ago. Miss that guy. Miss the simplicity of his wisdom. We really did catch lighting in a bottle around here the past couple decades.

Again, it is a prioritization exercise atm. I think Bill is stil a very very smart coach. He needs to understand by working on his ego, the whole team benefits.

This is from "i get the sense" , "i get the feeling" breer . he has zero sources...not saying its true but these kind reports of filler for what might happen so he can get some credit later.

Breer is awful. Tomase, Volin, Breer, in that order. "Feelings" guys.

NFL Network just reported that the Patriots signed Belichick to a long term extension before the 2023 season. The panel is now talking about how 71 year old Bill Belichick is the man to rebuild the Pats.

THIS JUST IN: Apparently Bill signed a "new, long-term, lucrative contract" earlier this year. Does this mean we are stuck with him? Are the Krafts really that stupid?

I assume he could still be removed early with pay. It happens all the time. Seems like half the Patriots coaching staff are still collecting from previous teams. It just makes it all that much more painful for Kraft.

Discussion I heard was not as optimistic re how very expensive it might be for the Krafts to move on from Bill, given that there is this new contract, apparently. We'll see. As for Kraft getting all weepy about moving on from Bill, I'm going to assume he's not that much of a sap.

The BB haters on suicide watch…

Bill signing an extension in the midst of you guys discussing his demise is hilarious.
Contract was done in the offseason.. I doubt if RK had hindsight into the BS we see now any talk of an extension wouldn't have happened IMO..

It’s only hilarious that the third guy of the supposed “trio” of the Patriots dynasty (who was attributed roughly 33% of the success for years) is also outing himself a goddamn idiot.

Belichick is 71 and also Kraft has been publicly *****ing about the team and making little veiled threats while as usual acting cowardly and desperate behind closed doors.

Kraft might take a big picture view. They knew this was a make or break season for Mac, he was either the answer or he wasn’t.

The big problem with this team is the QB position. It’s a player’s league, we’ve heard BB and other coaches say this a thousand times. You need to players, whether your name is Belichick. Lombardi or Chuck Noll…. you need the horses.
