Report: Kraft has had discussions about potentially moving on from Belichick

The biggest issue i've got with BB right now, is the absolute hubris over the last two years.

hireing patricia who flamed out as a headcoach be the OC, and Offensive line coach was such a massive nepotism decision. like at the pro level having a guy who never coached offense, suddenly in charge of the offensive side of the two most vital spots.
Then having judge who flamed out as a headcoach, come in and be QB coach, which is something he's never done in the pros.

The amount of **** talk that go out of New england offices about mac from some of the coaches(many believe to be judge) and to still have judge on the coaching staff, and if not for the eagles offering him a job, patricia would still be here as well.

Then when people ask Bill about why the fans should be excited to rest on his laurels and say some **** like "the last 20 years" when bill has in the best talked about how the past means nothing its all about your record right now.

and now this year its an absolute dumpster fire. Bill let a home grown reciever leave and replaced him with sloppy thirds in JUJU who has one knee and catch catch. He extended parker, who plays so incredibly small. Other teams in the league are constantly trying to get better, the dolphins are bringing in guys, the eagles just signed julio ****ing jones for ****s sake. These guys that are moving might not be game breakers anymore, but these are teams with good offenses that are trying to at least ATTEMPT to get better, and here is our ****ty offense right now not doing anything.

Bill is a dinosaur in todays modern nfl. If he wants to be the Dcordinator im fine with it, but we need a new GM and a new HC
I wanted to give him at least one more year but, at 1-5, it’s very hard to justify that when you add in everything you’ve just mentioned.

Here’s a practice for anyone who wants to take it on - in 1-2 paragraphs, sell me on why he’s the guy for the future without having to lean on his past accomplishments. Why can’t you do that? Because Bill doesn’t do that. So, apply his philosophy and sell me on him.

Also this is something that people probably won't want to admit, but if Bill Belichick was a more likeable figure, I don't think he's be turned on like this so suddenly. Denver had Elway stinking it up as GM for years, but he was so beloved as a person out there that even when it was obvious he should go the fans didn't like to talk that negatively about him. They were downright uncomfortable. Bill doesn't have that.

At 1-5, and at 26-30 since Brady left, I’m not sure how anyone could argue that Bill isn’t a declining asset. He’s also on the wrong side of 70 and, to borrow from his own philosophy, we’re not keeping him for what he’s done, but what he is doing and what he’s going to do. The team hasn’t had a slam dunk draft in over a decade and they’re one of the least talented teams in the league. If the team wants to move on after the season, I’m okay with it.
I thought you meant trading assets at the trade deadline.

Its a multibillion dollar business. The owner can not just avoid making a change as a “courtesy” to Bill.
These are grown men. Kraft should make whatever change he believes is necessary without worrying about courtesy. BUT, I do not believe he will be fired. I believe he will resign at end of season.

He's made his bed with the media, so now he's gotta lie in it. They've waited 20 years to stick it too him. IMO fans should be defending him, but too many listen to sports radio and get wrapped up in the negativity surrounding Bill.

It's an ugly way to finish, much like Tom Landry and Coughlin before him. The man is a legend, and as poorly as it's ending, the next man surely will not lead the team to 6 more super bowls. But let's run the old bastard out of here and make sure everyone knows what a douche nozzle he is.

It's sad. Everyone has turned on him, forgetting all that was accomplished here.

If they fired him now, Kraft could bring in a consultant to help facilitate trades before the deadline to move assets and ensure the values are good, maybe do an extension or two with players he really likes. I don't know if he wants Bill or his current personnel staff doing all of that. They would also have a bit of a free pass for a bad record - "we fired our coach midseason, it was hard to re-organize and win" - and Kraft can talk to the media the back half of the year about all the things he's gonna do this winter and spring to get the organization back on track.

He's duplicitous pond scum again.

Fire BB? Crazy talk. This is Felger/Adam Jones talk, ugh. If Kraft does fire BB, it will be a disaster and we will all look back at the BB era as the salad days of this organization.

The team can be fixed with one offseason of good drafts and FA signings....but I guess Kraft would have to wrest control of the GM decisions from BB and give it to someone really, really good.

On 98.5 Breer and Zo seem to believe the job will be Mayo's. I have a concern about this. I don't want a defensive coach and most coaches from the Belichick tree have been failures.
That would be a let down. I want to move away from the Belichick tree and also get an offensive minded coach.

I wouldn’t fire him now. Give him a chance to try and turn things around. If he doesn’t, and things remain the same, let him go on Black Monday and begin working on the succession plan.

If BB wants to give the GM duties to someone else, I’m more than fine with retaining him as a coach. But we will have to address the rest of the staff. His son wouldn’t be coaching anywhere on the NFL level if not for his dad hiring him, for example. I have a lot more confidence in BB as a coach than I do in BB as a GM.

Here's the thing I never get about the problems with Bill's sons. They work on the defense side, where we are actually talented and well-coached. Stephen runs a good defense. I don't get firing him because people hate nepotism. It's the NFL. Half of people in football are there because of nepotism.

5 point loss to the Eagles who could very well be in this SB.
7 point loss to the Dolphins who demolished the Broncos.
4 point loss to the Raiders.

It takes a lot to for this offense to overcome those deficits, but not with a new QB with game.

Does Steve actually run the defense, though? How much input does Mayo (who looks like he’s making the calls at times this season) have? How much input does Bill have?

New QB doesn’t solve the problem of this being the slowest offense in the NFL. One that’s better suited for football in the late 90’s than the current era of offense. And I’m saying this as someone who really doesn’t like Mac, either.

If he resigns, he can't go to another team (unless his contract ended at the same time).

If he is done with coaching, I think they would promote him out of the way (much like Tampa did with Arians before last season). Give him some do-nothing front office executive job to keep him in the organization.

If he is not done with coaching..... well, they'll either have to keep him, fire him or come to some sort of mutual agreement.

This happens to all the teams who dont have a legit QB. Heck, john harbaugh has done nothing since the SB. even went 5-11. he now has had lamar for 3-4 yrs and what has he done? Why is there no call for firing. ? Same with tomlin . What has he won in the last 13 yrs ?

The fact is is BB isnt media friendly so the whole mediaverse is on him to get him fired the first time it looks really really bad . And boston media is uniqie in this where they take special pride in getting him fired. and it will work because kraft has no spine to stand up to criticism and look objectively.. It wont do much until they find the QB. Look at buffalo . they went through their cycle of QBs until they hit on allen.
