Maybe jc did not want to accept the contract? Maybe the chargers offered something other then money? There are lots of reasons just because the team or fans want a player does not mean they have to do it
What I know is.. NE reportedly was willing to let JC test FA like they have done with many guys. Anyhow only JC and BB know if or what he was offered for a contract. The chargers were going to release or trade him anyway. He fills a big need, he knows the system he thrived in here.

I ****ing KNEW he was too good to be true.
Sorry, everyone. While he didn't go batshit crazy, it seems I jinxed it for us.

Feels like a typical Department of Defense requisition:

Now we know the cost of a turnstile.......$1.5 mill (marked down)
LOL.. good one. I don't have any expectations now for the defense. Without judon and gonzo. Just me. I'd rather see of the offense can show any signs of being NFL caliber

If we were willing to trade for him and take on his contract.. why didn't they keep him? I'd rather the trade be for a Game breaker at WR personally .

because we were stacked at CB and had legit people to replace him

This was our starting CB lineup coming out of preseason:
Christian Gonnzalez
Jack Jones
Jonathan Jones
Marcus Jones

That is a stellar CB group, top in the league... unfortunately for us and some dark BS cloud of luck that hangs over this team lately, ALL FOUR OF THEM are on IR, with Gonzos being season ending

Losing 4 CBs dramatically changes the circumstances where they would now agree to pick up his contract.. because the 4 CBs they had ahead of him are all unavailable

Most people would give a team a mulligan for a season like that, but passionate sports fans are not rational... speaking from experience.

Agreed! We were just cursed this year at CB.. I know it was worst-case scenario. In this case is absolutely the worst case. If we can get anything close to what JC was during his time here we would be ok.

its also safe from the perspective that BB coached JC for 3-4 years here and he played well, at least well enough to earn him that fat contract

So they know what they're getting, don't have to commit any guaranteed money to him and get support for a position that has been completely decimated by injury. Our salary cap situation is very healthy as well, so we can use his services for as long as we need them and then cut bait whenever the time is right

hes also going to probably be on good behavior, since A) he knows BB doesnt put up with BS after playing for him and B) after the incident withn chargers, highly doubt another team would give him a fat contract... more likely a 1 year prove it type deal

so hes still motivated to perform and justify his salary or get cut and possibly be back in the JAG free agent pile trying to sign on with any team that will have him

And JAGs we don't need. We have a roster full of them already. I'm interested to see how JC does after that injury last season. The guy is absolutely a ball hawk.. this teams needs all the defensive turn overs they can get to give this offense the ball in the red zone. I think the team is going to wait until the trade deadline to see if they can target a game breaker At WR.. I don't know that for sure.. but just a hunch. As they've shown they can always move salary to next year.

Right now I've lowered my expectations for the defense they will probably end up average with loosing 2 studs. If Jon and Jack can return soon it gives some needed depth. Question is JC even going to play this week?

Yes. He is playing for veterans minimum this season.. well I guess BB saw what we saw and realized Wade and myles Bryant aren't NFL caliber players.
Again with this nonsense.

Myles Bryant is playing well as a #4 or #5 CB.

Wade is OK as an emergency #6 CB.
==========================
End of the roster backups are INDEED NFL quality players.

Jackson is NOT being brought in to REPLACE Bryant. He is being brought in to play ahead of Bryant in the depth chart. This will make Bryat MORE valuable.

I like the Trysten Hill signing.

He entered the league entirely too young and immature. Even though he has been around for a while, he has caught some bad injury breaks with a knee injury.

Here’s the thing, he has to begin to understand his professional mortality the older he gets. If the Pat’s coaches can get him to play well, he can be a penetrating DT on the inside.

He could just as soon washout and never play again, but this might be his best and last chance. His athleticism is really good.

The Chargers are paying JC Jackson and he has no more guaranteed money after this year, so they could cut him outright with no dead cap implications. I also don’t doubt the trade is also contingent on his passing a physical.

What’s not to like?

And watch magically as Jackson becomes a good CB again… part of his success the first time around was scheme.
