Matt Light Interview on WAAF

The morning after games on WAAF, Matt Light calls in for the "Hill-man Huddle."

It's always interesting and good for a laugh or two.

One big thing he mentioned this morning was that the crowd really needs to step up this weekend. He said that lately unless its a big 3rd down in the red zone, it doesn't seem like people are waking up.

Time and again weenies posting here have denied that the crowd wasn't geting it done at Gillette. One poster lamely said, "It's tiring to cheer series after series if the D hasn't stopped the other team." DUH! That's when it's most needed. Where I sit we're surrounded by corporate seats where different brown-noses of the week come and spend half the game off geting food and never, ever make noise when the Pats D is on the field.

the stadium was definitely not designed for noise. in most stadiums, the air comes in and swirls around slowly, recycling the soundwaves. at gillette, the design lets the air freely come in and out of the stadium. it sux

I know we're loud up in 304, but when the lower levels aren't doing their part it's useless (but I never leave without a sore throat, I had one this morning from yelling at the tv.) I get to my seat and don't leave until Springsteen starts playing on the PA. :rocker:

You 300 guys are great fans but screwed by the stadium acoustics; the sound goes up and out not onto the field. I sit in the 100s behind the Pats bench, surrounded by 'beautiful people' who find it gauche to make noise.

Errr, sound waves aren't affected by wind. Hearing is affected by wind.

The problem with Sound in Gillette is the open ends. Sound waves need to bounce and reverberate but the stadium design at Gillette simply allows them to escape. That being said, Pittsburgh's Heinz Field is the same way, but they seem to maintain a sufficient level of loudness.

I hate the Gillette crowd so much. They're either drunk or sitting their with their asses on their hands keeping their sense of entitlement warm.

Every game I go to I scream to the point that it takes at least a day for my throat to recover.

hearing is soundwaves. they are one and the same.
and heinz field is not the same design as gillette. it was designed to have open ends, but to restrict the air flow from going directly from one end and out the other, thus, the sound waves bounce better. gillette was not designed with sound in mind. it was designed for everything but

stop blaming the stadium! That Stadium has one open end which is a huge disadvantage but its seats are right on top of the field which is a huge advantage. It is the fans. All the new stadiums have more open space and open ends (Except QWEST) and they all make noise.
