You know they wouldn't actually draft the tackle. They'd probably pick the crappiest QB they could possibly justify taking in the first round and pat themselves on the back for fixing the franchise.

But neither Joe Douglas nor his puppet Robert Saleh will ever admit Zach was a wasted pick. So now we get to watch the Patriots (and everybody else) beat Zach again twice more this year.

I will say this for them. The large majority of them are pretty self aware and their forum is generally pretty hilarious to read from the outside right now.

I bet it boils into a stare down next year and a "will he or won't he" retire, pass a physical, force a trade or release. If he is already working to get control of the narrative it could get ugly with the guaranteed money.

Rehabbing from a torn Achilles is no picnic, it appears to be an eight-month process. So Rodgers has plenty of time to recover for 2024 if he's up to doing the work. In his case that's a big "if" since the injury arguably could have been avoided had he been more diligent with strength/conditioning work during the offseason. His history of calf issues going back at least 10 years suggest an imbalance that never was fully addressed.

Personally I think the take-away from his four plays behind the Jete OL will be that he wants his guaranteed money and then he wants out.

Why sign up for a repeat when there is no upside to putting his body on the line in 2024?

He already got the cheap ego boost of being NYC's darling son for a few months, I doubt it improves with age.

And if the Jete go after his guarantees it will get very ugly. This is a guy who has cut his parents and his brother out of his life, thinks he knows all the answers when it comes to 9/11 and Covid, etc.

That complaint by Rodgers is so dumb. It’s a quick pass, which is in every teams playbook and is designed to slow a pass rush. They aren’t asking him to run the option. Throw the ball when the play is designed and you won’t be touched. If you can’t survive a single hit you can’t play QB any more.

Based on Rodgers past and this little story about his undressed complaint I think it gets ugly and the Jets will once again come out looking like clowns.

I went there wondering if the Jete fan base was buying into the Saleh line about Zach being the starter and any new QB will be Zach's backup.

They don't, they don't trust Zach, they have seen all they need to see of him, they want a new starter.

They are looking for a steady low-risk QB that can move the chains, the opposite of Zach.

The problem is so is every other NFL team, both for starting and backup positions, and no one is letting that kind of guy go.

All the free agent QBs are there for a reason, no team was willing to offer them a job.

After watching that Hard Knocks season I am not the least bit surprised. That coaching staff is a bunch of meathead hardos who just want to grunt and headbutt their way into a winning season.

For the good of future players and the league itself, they should disband the cursed franchise with a full dispersal draft. They can then have a completely unrelated expansion team that doesn’t have the burden of being the Jets.
