So at 12 we will know if these guys cleared waivers and can sign to PS?

Is this faster than in other years?

My memory is waivers weren't completed until 4 PM

Yeah you would think that teams would be given at least 24 hours to sort through all of the available names... Season doesn't start for over a week, so I don't know what the rush is... Practice squads should also be given an extra few hours before they're formed, so that any waiver claims are fully processed and teams are then aware of who Exactly is available afterwards.

Not sure why you think this year is any different than any other year. It's not.

Didn't seem he said he thinks that though.

To me, he's saying that they've changed the timeframes on when things occur (waiver claims, PS additions, In Season IR moves). I've seen nothing to suggest that the NFL has changed anything. That anything is "being rushed". That teams aren't being given enough time to know who is available.

I think there's a lot of "office hours" follow-up work after waiver claims and all that are settled, hence the earlier time.

There's also the element of travel. If a player is claimed by noon, he can join team activities the very next day. If he's claimed late in the day, that's no longer an option.

To use the emergency QB rule, the third QBs has to be on the 53. So not going to happen and not going to drive their roster construction, at least at this point.

Instead I suspect their plan is for Zappe to be on the PS and elevated one or more times before being put back on the 53. It's even possible he'll be back today after someone is IR'ed.
IMO I've felt Zappe will be back, I'm sure BB already told him stay around the area like he's known to do with so many other guys over the years. Zapp is on his rookie deal, he's been in the system, just makes sense to have him here. However I think the team is going to have a veteran back up Mac. With the musical chairs at O line.. I'm resting my hope in the defense against the eagles. We are 11, 12 days away from week 1.. and we have to talk about the O line.. not ideal. We should be posting about matchups, and how we can beat the eagles. Our current reality as a patriots fan I guess

None of our guys were claimed. All cleared waivers.

Here's a question. Does the rookie deal go away if he's waived and then put on the PS?

A little, but not totally, surprised that Zappy went unclaimed; whichever team did claim him would've had to teach him almost an entirely new offense with no ass-urances that he would grasp it, while he was on their 53... He's just not that good to be worth the investment.

I believe it does... That would help explain why Jermaine Eluemunor had to be signed to a one-year RFA contract after the 2019 season...

Looks like someone beat me to the punch to answer the question.. LOL unfortunately he's right for once.
