Speculation about Zappe getting cut

Better backup qbs out there

Colt Mccoy
Carson Wentz
Mason Rudolph (if he is released)
PJ Walker
Marcus Mariota (if cut)
Will Grier (if cut)

Like rbs backup qbs are a dime a dozen

I would be happy to see him cut and claimed. No upside with Zappe.

Dream would be to trade with broncos for stidham. That would be a great improvement over Zappe, but I think he is untouchable
"These are guys I have heard of".

I could see a situation where they add an older backup QB to the room, without much likelihood they ever play, but I think it's more likely they get a young guy (Cunningham if they really like him) on the PS and elevate him if something happens to Mac.
What is the point of adding a guy who played and sucks just because he played.
Experience as a failure depresses your value, it doesn’t enhance it.

geez. zappe sure has fallen from grace. From the chant to the QB competition to might he be cut. I think he's fine and agree with the crap line being the major problem; pretty similar to what happened to Mac last year and I give him a pass for that. I don't think you suddenly forget how to play.
800k for a backup QB is a steal. Press on with zapper for next 4 years.

Because of one preseason game where Zappe played with the dregs of our roster against the Titans ones on defense.

Sounds smart…

The same reason Bill had veteran backups for Brady in the early years, whose sole purpose was to be the experienced voice in the room.

I wonder if it's a system fit or if he spent all offseason trying to change his mechanics to combat the batted balls and it's messed him up?

might be as simple as the more we see of him, the more he reveals who he really is as a QB.......by all accounts, he has strong intangibles......so having to jump in when called upon last year, his initial performance reflected that.......the more we see of him, the more we see he is a short QB with a low delivery, with good feet in the pocket, a good presence, but holds the ball too long/takes too long to go through his reads/progressions.....

he is just who (some of us) thought he was

Where’s Damon Huard when you need him.
You know who I always liked but was never a Pat.
Jay Fiedler was a really good game manager for the Phins.

I don’t remember him adding veterans other than over the hill guys like Flutie or testaverde. I don’t see anyone like that.

A Zappe cut would be a shocker. I don’t think they would gain much from a move like that if anything at all. He’s still on his rookie deal.
So was strong jr... both 4th rounders.. all be it different positions of course..

Colt McCoy is a viable option..

I could accept Colt McCoy.
Why? Because he’s a guy who sucks but you know his name?
McCoy is 37 years old and just got cut by a qb desperate team who didnt even want him over a 5th round rookie and a guy they just traded for who has a career stat line of 85 passes 2 TDS and 3 ints.

Colt McCoy is a viable option..
Viable how? What exactly would you expect him to bring to the table?
How to be a bad backup qb on a losing team? That’s his experience.

3 preseason games where he sucked
Cant fix a weak arm fumblitis, short height and blocked pass attempts
Not even the eagles OL could fix this guy
Should never have been drafted
Sam Howell is better

Sam Howell started one NFL game, he completed 57% of his passes, threw 1 TD and 1 INT on 16 attempts and had a 83 QB Rating.

So no, Sam Howell was nowhere near as good statistically as Zappe.

Preseason is practice. It's not real football.

How did Zapp look to you?
