Not accurate. Mac was more than fine his rookie year.
The kid has had a very interesting career so far.
Drafted by the Pats and he's jumping for joy.
Has a decent rookie season.
Gets hit head-on by a Matt Truck.
Pleads for help and gets blasted from all angles.
All while dealing with the Zapheads.

Yep. Some of his challenges have been self-inflicted (tantrums, going outside the org) but installing Jabba the Matt and Judge Dread as his coaches made a frustrating situation worse.

I still find it interesting they sent Hoyer packing for also having issues with the coaching last year.

I like how people are getting on Mac for yelling on the sidelines when frustrated like every single QB in the league (including Brady) has done at one point or another.

I understand what you mean but if you look at a couple of passes previously they were awful and Parker and Myers made remarkable catches to score. So it worked out in spite of bad QBing.

That is not to say that Zappe is bad, I love his game, presence, and attitude. Zappe was a rookie, let's see how he does this camp.
Just judging the temperature of the organization and 2022.. if Zappe beats out Mac in camp.. my gut tells me he will be traded. Ownership would rather get something for Mac rather than pay him to back up zappe.. however if Mac balls out this season wich I hope then we have a great problem to have going forward.

Yep! Hoyer is an alpha a vested veteran in the league with a ton of experience and been at other stops. So him knowing the offense inside and out.. was showing up BBs boys.. very funny coincidence harris, Myers, Jonnu, some of Mac's biggest supporters last season are all gone from the team all be it different reasons.. Hoyer singing with LV is also telling.

Um, well, his second season they missed the playoffs, they had the same passer rating (85), and the same yds per game.

But I agree overall. One wonders though what a barely competent QB would have done on the 2002 team. They won 9 games.
Yes, the 02-03 season.. had alot of injuries on Defense that season.. Mac was sabotaged last season.. and I hear him being called spoiled and bratty from the likes of Mazz. The kids earned his spot at Alabama and then here. He wasn't handed anything he earned his keep.

I listen to vets like McCourty and judon rave about Mac and his leadership you can see he's respected in that locker room. I had made mention that there's a reason why owners don't give HCs so much power anymore. As we've learned likely unbeknown to RK, BB Was trying to move Mac.

That's been debunked. If anything, BB was just trying to assess his trade value in passing like he would do with any other player (with the exception of Brady). He was never seriously considering doing it. The teams that were said to be contacted vis-a-vis a Mac trade have said his name never came up when talking to BB.

Great vets ALWAYS rave about the QBs leadreship. That's leadership. I do believe Mac's intangibles remain to be seen.

As for the rumors you seem to have fallen for as if they're absolute, there's no discussing anything who believes even 1% of what's put out by the Boston media.

To this day we have people here who believe the writer who said BB wanted to move Brady out in favor of Garoppolo, despite the absolute evidence to the contrary.

Agreed!! However that's why they are called reports!! Some are more credible than others.. the reason why the recent reports had more spice than say some other debunked reports is that all that's transpired last season, the comments BB made about Mac on seasons end.. so I tend to pay more attention to what the team does.. than what they say. I like yourself I just want Mac to succeed this season put 22 in the mirror and make his mark and make it emphatically known he's the QB of the new England Patriots

I would. Doesn't have the arm strength.

Without PA he's exposed
What do you mean by arm strength? Being able to fit it tight spaces? Based on my previous analysis, Mac and Zappe have extremely similar ceilings as far as air yards are concerned (low 60yds), so to me that tells me they have similar arm strengths. Kindof reminds me of Brady early on for both. When Bledsoe came in during the Steelers AFC game and threw ropes (low trajectory throws for distance), I remember thinking oh yeah, that's what a cannon looks like.

Kindof attributed that to the weather and not having 1st team snaps that week

Yeah... it's likely the case.. however BB evaluates every player at every position..

Had something that was appealing to the team come to fruition Mac would be on another team. However that can be said for any player.. Mac is here, the organization needs Mac's best this season.. we have pieces on offense. no one is talking about our dynamic RB in rham.. the guy's one the best all around backs in the NFL.. what he brings to the offense can't be overstated..

Could have been - Zappe was not good that game. Clearly straight rushes that kept him surrounded in the pocket caused him trouble. We will see in camp this year, I hope he plays well. There is nothing to not like about the kid.

I have a problem with how Mac hysterically hopped off the field after spraining his ankle. And all of high-pitched screaming as he was being carried into the tunnel. Really bad look for an NFL player. I also think it's preposterous when anyone suggests he's tough. Especially after episode #2 which was getting literally runover by Chandler Jones. One of the weakest efforts I've ever seen on a football field. Didn't slow down Chandler even a smidgeon. It was embarrassing. Oh, and he's not very good at playing quarterback either.

I still find it interesting they sent Hoyer packing for also having issues with the coaching last year.
Was that the reason? He's so useless (on the field) that I didn't even think twice about it. If the team cleaned house on everyone who had a problem with the coaching last year then there might be no one left.

It is the height of disingenuous arguments when you base the toughness of a QB on whether he's a good open field tackler.

I'm mostly basing it on that cringey display at the end of the Baltimore game. But regarding the open field tackle, it's not the technique (although that was bad too), but the effort. The epitome of weak.

While him getting ran over like a little kid by Jones was a bad look, not enough blame goes to the former WR that was 20 yards downfield, runs backwards with a lateral and throws back to Jones. What did he expect Jones to do with it with nobody near him?
