Joe Judge 2023 role clarified

Gross that Judge has any role with the franchise whatsoever, though thoroughly unsurprising given Bill's history of nepotism. I'm ready to sound the alarm if a Mayo title is not also announced in short order. Feels like a continuation of the slow motion train wreck we've witnessed ever since the Judge/Patricia re-hirings were announced last spring.

What alarm are you going to sound?

Jerod Mayo is a terrible negotiator.

And after all the crap we've heard about Judge, he gets a promotion? The Pats are becoming one of the most dysfunctional franchises in the NFL.

What promotion? How are the Pats dysfunctional?

Assistant Head Coach is not the role people think it is. Scarnecchia was the Patriots' assistant head coach from 2000 to 2013. Scar was an important member of the Patriots' coaching staff, but he was never higher on the pecking order than Weis, McDaniels, or O'Brien during that time.

When it was believed Mayo was getting the AHC job, the board was giddy with delight about the potential promotion.
Suddenly, AHC is a figurehead position to be mocked

One career is ascending, and one is descending. It's not that difficult to see, really. Yeah, Bill is keeping his career on life support. So fekkn' what? Let's wait and see what the guy's responsibilities are and what he really does. I agree he sucks, and I see that y'all want him executed, but Bill is taking care of him. I don't care if the fekkin guy's job is to bait Bill's hooks on VIII Rings. He certainly has some football knowledge. Y'all want to have a bigger staff with more football minds? Well, here ya go.

He doesn't need to be in NE period. Imagine being in a workplace with an employee that is causing problems, yet gets a fancy new title and possibly more money. That is going to piss people off.
See above.

Scarnecchia was an all-time great coach for us though. If anyone was worthy of that title, it was Dante.

To give Joe Judge that title leaves a bad taste in the mouth and makes it feel like a joke.

Scar in 2000 was not an all time great coach when he was named Assistant Head Coach. I don't agree with Judge getting the title, but it really is nothing title that doesn't mean much.

Nailed it.

After reading Karen Guregian's article I was hoping he would be gone altogether.
This guy is end all be all of ass kissers... this is puzzling to me.. I'd eager to hear what is mayos role exactly or was it just all smoke and mirrors

The only thing CLEAR about Judge - is that he should be nowhere near players, have nothing to do with football, and I'd prefer nowhere near the state of Mass. I'm incredibly disappointed by BB's decision making.
Agreed! Me personally Patricia reportedly left or is leaving for greener pastures this guy stays... I sense there will be some tension with BOB/JUDGE I'd imagine..

I wonder how the other coaches feel about him based off what was mentioned in the article. Him disrupting other position groups with his two cents had to have rubbed some people the wrong way. I know McCourty said something lates last year basically praising Daboll in NY and kind of indirectly slamming how Judge did thing there so it seems some of the players may not love him either.

I read this report also.. so if true then what is mayo? Assistant HC after the herald reports? Reports were he was more of a problem then Patricia...
Just some strange things.. so if true then then he'd still have some dealings with the offense.. ?..

To give Joe Judge that title leaves a bad taste in the mouth and makes it feel like a joke.

Here is what Breer is reporting:

According to Albert Breer, Judge will now be in an ‘assistant head coach’ type of role on the Patriots coaching staff, that will include “personnel elements” and “some parallels” to the role Matt Patricia played as a senior advisor to Belichick in 2021. Most importantly, Breer reported that Judge will “work closely with Cam Achord and Joe Houston on special teams.”

So the role, not title, is like an assistant head coach in that Judge will work closely with the special team coaches while not directly coaching the players.

From my Interpretation he's just saying it as it seems Mayo was overstepped.. I felt that statement the team put out.. was bunch of smoke n mirrors anyway... however nothing we can do about it we don't write the checks at Gillette..
