Patriots Player Departure Jake Bailey released

Jesus that was awful. 05? I'd need to look.
06. I remember that BB was so Ticked off that Sauerbrun kicked it into the EZ in one game he looked like he wanted to strangle the guy.. I've only seen BB TOed that badly at Refs..

Does he have any dead cap hits or did the suspension wipe all that out?

That thing with his suspension and filing over on grievance sealed his fate. Wish him nothing but luck.

To be fair it was 3 1/2 years. First 3 were great value.

For punters get them on team friendly deals and when they become expensive get rid of them and start the process over.

But to be fair, the mysterious relationship between actual injuries and the Pats' reporting thereof has always seemed a little less than transparent. It's sort of funny to have little jokes about it, but apparently that's the source of the grievance, and the Pats' official story and Bailey's grievance were at odds, so my guess is that in addition to letting him go, F you very much, we're now going to be looking at accusations of injury cheating, possibly linked to unfair practices and/or cap cheaty stuff. Or, we lost a punter. (Not wishing for it, it just seems like it has the feeling of a slow-developing crapstorm. Hope not.)

Good points Bailey did a lot more for us than some of the other guys in that class coughnkealharrycough. Harris is the only one left though and he might not stay.

Who cares.

Bailey flamed out and ticked off the coaching staff. If he wants to trash the team he can get in line with others who have some axe to grind.

I'm not surprised by Bailey release. He did not perform up to his contract last season. I already had mocked a punter to the Patriots in this year's draft prior to this news.

Do not forget Rohrweisser, the 5th round pick from hell

This will largely be determined by the grievance I think.
yeah I don't get what the "injury/suspension list" is. Apparently you get put on this list on 12/31, and you don't count against the roster, but you also don't get paid/doesn't count against the cap. Sounds like it's "temporarily cutting you." Maybe that's normal, hope so. In that case, we didn't get his services as a punter, and he chose to grieve it to get his game checks.

But since this is the Patriots, and this doesnt sound like how it's designed to work, I am less worried about the bailey/punter situation, and more worried about somehow losing a draft pick.

As I understand it from various reports since he got suspended:

The suspension voided most/all of his guarantees, which minimizes/eliminates the dead cap cost of cutting him. The grievance is to challenge the legitimacy of the suspension and thus try to recoup his guarantees-- which would then become dead cap for the Pats.
