1. development league was a poor try in the early 90, the fans over here want as well the real nfl (stars and teams) nowdays and the interest for the game increased drastically in the last 5 years, 91-93 was not yet the right time for the NFL in europe and the concept of some piss poor fake football nobody bought in, but now with the real NFL teams playing here its a different story
NFL Europe ran from 1995-2007. Not sure where you get your information but it's ridiculously incomplete.

2. in the last couple of years there is an highly increased tv coverage as well (and therefore fan interest of the nfl throughout western and eastern europe increased as well), you get like at least 3-4 games per week live while when I first got into it 20 years ago it was 1 ****ing game A YEAR, and that was the SB, you didn't even had quite any chance to watch a game, early 2000 there were no possibilities to watch the NFL as easy as it is nowdays...
during the early 90s when the NFL Europe was played (and nobody cared) it was even less, like ZERO games you were able to watch, welcome to the streaming age, back then it was even hard to get any kind of information like what the score the last game was let alone having any kind of highlights or broadcast of the games, even youtube was not there yet in early 2000, times have changed

2. Again with the incomplete information. Are you Roger Goodell?

3. there is a huge market potential the same size of the USA (500+ M people with growing interests for the nfl) the owners didnt accept the 9th home field game just to hand over extra game to season ticket holders, theyd rather cash in on the new opportunities outside of US where you can gain even more money from new thursty fans that are probably more willing to pay extra to watch, people are traveling from Italy, France, Netherlands etc. to Germany to watch the game, thanks to Brady, Vollmer, Jakob Johnson, etc. the Pats have quite a fanbase in Germany I would not underestimate it, if there would be nothing to earn be sure the NFL would not be here and I am greatfull for the opportunity given to the fans here to have a chance to watch a live game, its way easier than travel to the states to watch a game

So, they'd rather cash in on new opportunities while alienating the current fan base? If you don't think that playing games in Europe is hated by most US fans then you just aren't paying attention.

It would be a lot different if the price of everything wasn't going up currently. Europe was hit with higher inflation than the US. Germany was reporting about how there would be Energy issues this winter, though the MSM has been suprisingly silent lately. But you want me to believe that there are enough people in Europe who will have 3000-5000 Euros of disposable income to spend on an NFL Football game. Regardless of Vollmer's and Johnson's impact. Will they fill the stadium? Sure. But they're doing it at the cost of the Fans here.

Got my attention. Is the cost of the season ticket based on 8 or 9 home games? Do you get a first shot at tickets to the foreign games?

They give season ticket holders 10 games -- normally two preseason and eight regular season or one preseason and nine regular season. With this year's ninth home regular season game going to f*cking Germany, I'm not sure how they plan to handle it. It's safe bet the Germany game will not be part of the season ticket package, I can only guess they'll get to 10 in Gillette with two preseason games for what would end up being three-straight seasons. I have no idea about access to tickets for overseas games the Patriots host. I assume club seat holders will get preferential treatment like they do for the Super Bowl. The only way I'd go to Germany would be if someone paid my way. If/when I find out more I will post it to this thread.

Re. the enlarged/bolded above: well, they sure as hell didn't go to 17 games so Germany could host more outdoor drinking parties. No, most teams with nine home games have them in their home stadiums just as the Patriots did in 2021. And this has earmarks of an interim move to Goodell's coveted 18-game regular season.

I get how Europeans are drawn to the NFL spectacle, but if football was more than mere novelty to them it would be widely played at the high school, college and semi-pro levels (at least) as part of the cultural fabric. Obviously, the NFL sees marketing potential in Britain/Europe which is why it trots out these limited dog-and-pony shows. Let's see a resurrected NFL Europe fill stadiums for a few consecutive years and then perhaps your alleged groundswell of interest can be taken seriously. Of course, that would require setting those beer steins aside long enough to learn rules of the game, which most Brits and Europeans I've spoken with have little interest in or patience for.

I wonder how hard it is is get two tickets to the Germany game. I'd go with my son and we could stop off and visit the in-laws and their kellerbar afterward! The Bucs game looked sold out over there and the Germans really seemed to enjoy it staying afterward and singing LOL.

That's what NFL games are meant for, didn't you know? Everyone getting soused and staying afterward for a grand singalong. Screw tailgating, that's so "yesterday." Next season Roger Goodell will appear as ceremonial postgame deejay at a different stadium each week.

Haha! someone with photoshop ability has to make a meme with Goodel as a DJ haha

Ah yes. The NATO (Not Another Trip Overseas) bowl for the Pats next year.

I love Europe and was thinking about going there again this year, now I know which city I must visit if the time is right. Can't wait to see the actually dates !!

There was talk when the 17-game season was first floated that the eventual plan was not teams alternating 8 and 9 home games but rather every team playing one neutral site game each year.

"I personally think we should have a franchise in London and that is something I am going to push for," Kraft said, according to SkySports.com. "I think I said that the last time we were over here in 2009 and before this next decade is out, I hope we have a team here. I think that would be right for the NFL and this fan base has proven they deserve it." . . . .

"We lobbied hard to come back after having such a good experience in 2009. We would love to be the permanent visiting team," Kraft said. "It was good for team bonding and everyone really enjoyed our last trip to London."

So...Frankfurt in November ?

Deutschland, eh? Well, if any posters here are going, they should be right at home since this is Doucheland.

It would be the right thing to offer ALL ticket holders a chance to buy these tickets. But Krafty Bob's travel agency will once again offer you a package in order to attend the game. Drives me nuts.

That would be a disaster. Between the players having to pay taxes in Europe and each city they play here, getting players to live over there, the flight for the London team as well as the visiting teams would be ridiculous. I am sure it is fun for some europeans to pop over to London to watch an NFL game for the novelty of it but soccer is king over there and the premier league plays plenty of games on Sunday. Does the league really think that the English are going to buy season tickets and miss soccer games? Money, money, money. Marc Cuban's prediction will come true at some point.

Setting the issue of European franchises aside, my key point was that the Pats are probably looking forward to this more than the fans might.

unless you talk about the european Pats fans, yeah who gives a damn about others, me-first attitude as always

get ready for the Pats to resurrect Sebastian Vollmer, media to do stupid interviews asking players to pronounce German words, perhaps even they'll get one to try on lederhosen....
