2007 giants & 2011 giants were dismal all year in those seasons finished 8-8. Got in the dance ... unfortunately we know the rest...
I remember reading in 07 that Strahan and some of the other Giants players met with their disciplinarian HC Tom Coughlin to get him to ease up a little. It worked.

I can't think of anyone who would help this team other than Thuney, and he was really let go in the year we paid the piper.
I guess that depends on how far back we go, but even recently they dumped Brady, Gronk and Gilmore. Those losses had a major impact on the team. I guess by "paying the piper" you don't mean they got to spend that money on Jonnu Smith, Hunter Henry and Nelosn Agholor instead.

Dont waste this defense BB.

The only thing I can muster up for inspiration is the Giants teams 07 & 11. They were just like us this season couldn't stay out thier own way, 8-8 both times... they made the playoffs, and made noise Eli was a turnover machine, was infighting, finger pointing.....once they got in the playoffs ...... we all know what happened to our detriment... BOTH times!
Yep. Both seasons talk was that Coughlin had lost control of the situation, he was too old and stale, should be fired. Then to our everlasting chagrin they righted the ship to steal two SBs.

Paying the piper: That was not the same year. Two totally different years.

Gronk retired, Gilmore was toast, even the team that traded a 4th for him didn't want him, and as for Brady... well, he was not going to play through a rebuild. 2019 told us as much

I don't consider these guys players who got away.

I just got the win, loss record wrong. But yes it's so similar to this team. I don't know how many chances we've had to secure a playoff berth. Coughlin was riding them hard in practice, defense was mad at offense for being a turnover machine.. if this team could just score would be such a boost!

Ted Johnson was on 98.5 yesterday lamenting this teams predictability. He said on the first 2 third down plays vs Cincinnati the defense knew exactly what play the Patriots were running.
They need to stop playing it so close to the vest and conservative in their first possessions of the game. This offense has me longing for the innovation of Charlie Weis, and dare I say, McDaniels.
Miami knows the Pats well enough that unless Patricia changes some stuff the offense will be banging it's head against the wall. Let Mac Jones throw the ball early. it's not 1993, you don't need to "establish the run" to win in the NFL anymore.
I really hope because it's going to be raining the Pats brain trust isn't like, "nope, not throwing today, it's raining"....

Yeah Phil, the offensive predictability is definitely concerning. I have a little hope that watching the second half last week and us opening it up and trying to throw downfield is an indication that we will try to do it going forward. We can only hope though.

Good morning everyone, getting ya'll ready for a Thursday:
Shouldn't you be dropping R's instead? You're making me geographically confused!

To start the game with an aggressive approach instead of the conservative stuff leads to more risky play and given how functional this offense is what makes you think this would lead to more opportunities to win?

At this point I don't think there is some magic set of plays that will make this offense potent and I'm not sure what else you expect.

I think Brian (whoever he is) is right and Lazar is wrong in the above analysis. You can see the safety start to jump the cut and Mac holds the ball for another beat or half second. At that point, Mac still has the capability of going to Thornton who has beaten his coverage

What I expect is for individual players to complete their assignments. That is not happening. I don't believe coaches draw up plays with 2 players running into each other or ending up in the same location. There are no plays with 2 motioning at the same time. There are no plays designed to drop passes or fumble and any of the other stupid things we see. Can coaches do more? Of course, but players make the plays and don't make the plays.

Mac holds the ball for another beat!!! That's one of the problems.

Depends. He's late on the throw to Jakobi, but by holding it, he can hit Thornton for a huge TD.

Wow, Marcus Jones got a concussion when the Bengal jumped on his back after the Chase fumble.

Jon Jones, Myles Bryant and Shaun Wade vs. Tyreek Hill and Waddle?

We need Mills and Jack jones back really fast.

i think after the ravens game , his confidence has been killed. he no longer trusts the timing of his WRs and rightfully so.
