I honestly can see Jets beating SEA & MIA as more likely than Pats beating MIA and BUF. If the Jets make the playoffs what's going to happen to this thread?

Well..they still suck..That doesnt change

not specific to mac but i really hate the "nothing to lose" line...yes you have a game and a playoff spot to lose. not "nothing to lose"

I mean I hope everyone is on the same page our first pick should be a left tackle. On that assumption do you really care if we we get the 3rd or the 4th one off the board?
If that tackle has 1st RD value, sure. If he doesn't, you're just throwing your biggest problem at your biggest asset and hoping for the best. Hoping for the best without Scar. Who gave us a lot of flexibility in that department.

I'm a stickler for matching value, talent and need. I'm probably too picky at times but hate seeing us leave value on the table or take someone too early. Im annoying, I know.

I think we could get a really good tackle in RD2 this year if we miss out on Wright for example.

I'm not a draft guy like you but there's usually 3 or 4 at least that go in first rd. And usually one or 2 top ten so either scenario we are probably looking at the 3rd or 4th one.

Lol

6. New England Patriots

Look, I love their defense. But geez that offense is ROUGH. Nothing ever looks like it makes sense, and Mac Jones has spent more time yelling at others than anything else this season. Making the playoffs might actually be detrimental to the long term health of the Patriots franchise, because then they’ll convince themselves that Matt Patricia is actually good as an OC. Help us help you, New England. We want you to be better.

Q: Besides play-caller, what do you think is causing the significant woes in the offense? - @BradyCarried
If you asked me this question a few weeks ago, I'd say offensive line/poor pass protection. However, over the last two weeks, they've been more competitive in that area. Now, I'd say receiver execution and attention to detail, which points to coordination but not necessarily play-calling. They're a sloppy route-running team right now, and the timing is often out of whack with their passing offense. I haven't seen a Patriots offense run routes this poorly before. They're rounding into breaks, taking their sweet time to get into the route pattern, and the spacing hasn't been good.

I know you are a big draft guy so I’d love your opinion. I’ve seen more consensus top 20 tackles (Skoronski, Johnson and Jones) than receivers (Johnston and Addison) in mocks. Are you higher on other receivers or just lower on the tackles I mentioned?

Why would anything happen to that thread if the Jete make the playoffs? Jete suckage encompasses much, much more than whatever happens on the field of play, notwithstanding the fact they haven't won a championship in 53 years. If you ever actually read the thread you'd understand that, but instead you embarrass yourself with an ignorant question. Open mouth, insert clown shoe.

Unbelievable! As good as our secondary could be, we haven't had everyone healthy almost all year.
If it's Bryant and Wade, we're toast - even with Teddy B at QB.
Is this new guy Hayes going to have to play in his first week here?

I hope not. Dude sucks.

Yep, what Corky just said there is, like, the Opposite of reality:

You have a ****ING PLAYOFF SPOT TO LOSE, CORKY.

Dude's ****ing clueless... And they think he can lead Men...

Absolutely but 2-3 will probably go top 15. Those 1st RD value guys might be gone sitting where we're at without a trade. So much depends on these last two games. The drop off is huge so we'll what happens. I just want to make sure we match talent & value with our need.

I love Skor and think he's a really good NFL player but I'm not a coach so no idea where he'll play. A lot will depend on landing spot. Here or GB for example he might get a shot at tackle but his length might scare some teams. It does show up with certain rushers. He allows guys to get inside and I think nfl talent will take advantage of that but his hands are plus. Probably my second favorite part of his game. Great accuracy, placement & striking. He's able to fight, gather and reset. Really good at hitting specific aiming points (outside bicep, under outside shoulder or chest) during rushes. Certain guys (Foksey, Ojabo) got inside his chest and were able to beat him up field a few times. Hes stepped in for Slater and has been very very good. I absolutely love his lateral ability, steps/movements. Maybe my favorite part of the his game. Really impressive agility, very nimble. Quick, smooth, no wasted effort very efficient! Some of the best of I've seen in a while. Foot speed and footwork are plus. Able to adjust, mirror in pass pro without losing any power or leverage. He's an easy mover getting to second level but has to improve handling quicker DB/LB. He's good at making first contact but his lack of length and change of direction shows up against those guys. They're able to get underneath, around him too easy. He'll fit in any run scheme day 1 with some cleaning up there and his pulling. Seems smart very rarely fooled. Picks up games well. Many offers from big schools. He has experience at C from HS. His grandfather is in the HOF I believe and played for Lombardi.
I like Paris I just think he needs a good amount of work on his technique against advanced rushers. He's got all the tools you'd want but just allows himself to neglect his considerable advantages too often. He's got the fight and nasty. He's got the size and length. He just needs to really polish up his technique in certain areas. Get stronger and add a little more quick twitch to his game.
and Jones)
Broderick I'm assuming. Love to highs and lows aren't incredibly low but he's got a lot of cleaning up to do before he's a quality starter. Just inconsistent hands, footwork is messy and slow at times. He's inconsistent hitting his marks in zone and has to get stronger to hold up in a power scheme or against power rushers. His flashes are bright with athleticism, ability to process work, finish whats in front of him or recover if beat. Seems like a smart player when it comes to twists and games.
than receivers (Johnston and Addison) in mocks. Are you higher on other receivers or just lower on the tackles I mentioned?
I think it's a good tackle class but just not as top heavy as the last few years (Thomas, Willis, Becton, Wirfs, Sewell, Slater, Cross, Neal, Icky)

I'd probably go (Wright RD1) (Bergeron, Harrison, Skor Possible mid-late RD1, early 2) (Johnson, Nelson, Jones RD2) Freeland Late 2/RD3

Wright and Onwenu would make a hell of a RT side.

I like the WR class but again not as top heavy as years past. Johnson will go WR1. I like Addison but we like our WR to block and he's like 175. I'd draft him as a cherry on top if i.had a stacked him but probably wait for RD2 for us or grab Zay Flowers in RD2

Again top as top heavy as years past. Q, JSN, Hyatt are all options.

Just looking at FA/Draft I expect a decent trade with one of our first two picks. Maybe either a tackle or WR. I threw out going after Higgins, Pittman, Aiyuk, Terry, Lamb in my thread. Lamb would cost two 1st so he's probably out. Terry too maybe a little less. The other three are more realistic and could be phased out in terms of contracts. 1st & 4th for Higgins, Pittman, Aiyuk and give them 4/100.

Take your highest graded tackle in RD2 and use one of our 4ths if you need to trade up. They'll be more than a few.

That's your two biggest needs on offense besides TE. And you can use your 3rd and last 4th if you want to trade up for one or a quick slot. It's actually a pretty good TE class. Washington will be everyones favorite. Reminds me of Mercedes Lewis / Poor Man's Gronk in a lot of ways. Unbelievable blocker with underrated athleticism. He's a house at 275.

And then he does this lol ...

They had no choice, really.

This defense still needs a CB1.
I was thinking about putting together a list of players that the Pats have let go but I didn't want to make anyone cry.

It's the players too. The coach also.
I think that comes under making hay while the sun shines. The Pats have dominated them for so long that now that their having success against the Pats they want to enjoy it before it ends.

I can't think of anyone who would help this team other than Thuney, and he was really let go in the year we paid the piper.

Logically the best thing for the franchise would be to lose the next two games and get a higher draft pick. As a fan of the team I am just unable to watch the game and root for them to lose, or watch other games and root for anything that doesn’t benefit the Pats playoffs chances. In other words, my head says root for the draft pick but my heart says root for the playoffs.
Your heart is correct and your mind is wrong. Losing is for losers.

Every once in a while when this comes up it brings me back to the year that Polian had Indy drop their last two games rather than go for the undefeated season. The shocked looks on Jeff Saturday's and PEDton Manning's faces said it all.
