Potential Coaching Candidates after BB Retires [Update: Bedard believes Monday's outcome could result in "serious question" about Belichick's Future]

I don't think BB is in danger of being fired but if it were to happen I'd prefer Brian Flores.

Yeah, his career losing record and 0 playoff appearances were quite impressive.

Belichick isn't retiring for a while imo (certainly not until after he passes Shula).

With the institutional knowledge Bill has I'd like to see them have his successor coach under him before he retires. Obrien could realistically become the OC, then succeed Belichick after that.

I'm a big fan of Bill and think there is value in having the person who succeeds him have similar processes to carry on the positive organizational systems. That being said, if the Pats could add a top tier coach (like McVay) I'd be fine replacing everyone with a connection to Bill.

Tom Curran thinks BB could be on thin ice if they continue the 4th annual December slide and does his "shoulder shrug and grunt" when asked by Kraft what his plan is.

But why would anyone want BOB here after the sh*t he pulled in Houston?

Because he worked with Mac and he won't be the head coach.

I have a feeling when Kraft hires his next coach and GM, he might go with someone more in the line where the NFL is moving than people from the Belichick tree. I see it almost as a definite possibility if Jonathan is the one making the selections. I don't see Jonathan as having any loyalty to Belichick or his coaching tree.

Back when Kraft hired Belichick, Belichick was an innovator. Now he is the old guard. I think Kraft wants someone who is head coach who is here and thriving well after Kraft is gone. So I think he wants another younger innovator to be the next head coach and the same with GM (who will be a different person).

Take it for what it is worth. I just thought it was thread-worthy.

I gave Belichick the benefit of the doubt going into the season, but what he did with this coaching staff and how it is affecting the team especially the QB would get 80-90% of the head coaches in this league fired.

“People around this team, including some very good sources of mine who have never steered me wrong, have basically indicated that this Cardinals game on Monday night is among if not the most important game of Belichick’s career post Tom Brady. If the Patriots don’t win this game, then I think there is a serious question about whether Belichick is the future head coach of this team."

If BB survives the Cardinals, is it the same threat going into Las Vegas the next week? Then Cincy?

We all know at some point in time BB won't be the head coach of this team.

Not the same thing as saying losing against the Cardinals will be what gets him "fired", either immediately or at some point in the "future".

I would rather let Belichick coach till he dies on the sideline than hire anyone who worked for him, we need a completely clean break from Belichick tree none of these guys are successful, Bill O'Brien destroyed the Houston Texans and he was the best of the lot.

Did he? He mostly had a winning record and they went the playoffs several times. They've been way worse since he left IIRC.

i don't think they will ever fire BB. Not happening.

Watch the video. Bedard doesn't believe it will come to it because he thinks the Pats will beat the Cardinals and/or Belichick will probably go to Kraft and say he is getting a real OC and offensive coaching staff next season that will probably save his job. But the sources say that it could be the end of his Patriots career. Not that it is. Could.

I know what Bedard meant, but I doubt very seriously BB would be fired in season. I fully expect there to be some executive decisions on the staff this off season..
