According to Albert Breer, Former Texans Head Coach Bill O'Brien is at the "top of the list" for the Patriots head coaching job whenever Bill Belichick decides to retire.
The Kraft family likes O'Brien's attitude and would relish at the opportunity to bring him onto the team to command Mac Jones and the offense, whether that be at playcaller next season, or head coach at some point in the future.

The news just keeps coming out of Kraft regarding the job that BB is doing. Over the offseason Kraft complained about the Pats drafts, bot enough regular season wins and the early post season exit. Youre not going to make coaching staff changes to BBs team unless that person has done something very wrong.

Bill Obrien is a hothead and would be Mac Jones worst nightmare.

If BB leaves he would have a new job by the end of day.

mods lock up this troll bait
Youre not going demote a long time BB soldier in Patricia without consequences. Thats the point.

BB is all about loyalty to those loyal to him and if you break that bond like Mangini did its over forever.

Bedard seems to think that BB's seat might start to get warm if they lose to the Cardinals.

I can see Obrein being hired as Oc slash assistant head coach getting more power with the idea to take over for BB when it’s time for him to step down.
Here’s a question if Raiders keep taking a nose dive is there a chance Mcdaniels comes back instead?
Can we give Matt a title like Special coaching assistant where he focuses on defense? Give Joe Judge special teams back?
Move Cam Achord to assistant or pink slipped?

Not till end of next year . If raiders get some defensive talent they will be great. The DC probably gets fired this season.

Bad title, instead of locking this, I'll edit it and see where it goes.

The Defense has Jones & Crosby, it's not been a lack of talent, it's late game implosions - that appears to be all coaching.
And, not just DC level, but JMD has to be on top of packages and scheme in late game situations...

I was no fan of BOB in 2010-11, but the guy did get us to a SB with BJGE, Ridley & Woodhead as our backs.
He excelled with the 2TE offense (granted, it was Gronk & AH)
But, I think Mac is fine with a hothead - as long as he's an offensive mind who communicates.
MP is a silent mind-f*er who plays mental games.
At this point, I'd be fine if BB stays for 1-2 more years and giving BOB a chance to prove his Patriot-way-ness as potential HC candidate.
Moving MP to advisor role, giving Mayo DC title, kicking Judge out.
Or, just ditching BB and his cronies (and kids), and starting over with BOB. I think he'd be able to reduce "newness" with Mac & offense by picking up from Bama past.

I would rather let Belichick coach till he dies on the sideline than hire anyone who worked for him, we need a completely clean break from Belichick tree none of these guys are successful, Bill O'Brien destroyed the Houston Texans and he was the best of the lot.

I agree with half of this…

I don’t want anyone from the BB tree if it comes to the point where he needs to go.

Blow it up and start over.

Kraft’s coaching hires have actually been pretty damned good. Even Pete would have been really solid had friggin Bobby Grier not been undermining him.

I’m confident in the Krafts finding a good HC if necessary.

Now, I’d prefer BB show an ounce of humility and own that his decisions over the last few years have been an abject disaster while totally retooling his coaching staff…

But I won’t hold my breath.

To come out with quotes from Kraft about a new OC with 5 games to go is fighting words. Where would Patricia go? Not back to DC that I can see.

BB is building from the ground up and this situation is 180 degrees different from Kraft asking BB to trade Jimmy. Kraft got rid of Jimmy, dissed recent drafts by BB and voiced his displeasure with the lack of regular season and playoff wins. BB might just tell Kraft to GFY.

I think Bill is gone this off season unless he hires a real offensive coordinator. As he should be. And if the coaching staff returns as is, Mac should ask to be traded.

I love Bill but this season and the past off season, he has been a bad head coach.
