Five Thoughts on the Patriots’ Loss Against the Bills
Ian Logue
Thursday night's New England Patriots loss against the Bills started off with a miscue and then a little bit of hope, but everything essentially went off the rails from there.

Yeah, I pretty much agree with the article @Ian.

My thoughts:

a.) The hand-off fumble recovery on 3rd down on our opening series was an absolute killer, IMO. Convert a first down there...we bleed at least 2 more minutes off the clock.

b.) Allowing that Allen-->Davis TD pass was stupid ****... BTW, I finally saw that Davis was grabbed before he was released and able to reverse directions and get open. Mack Wilson had to take down Allen in that situation.

c.) The Folk FG that hit the cross bar...hit that and we are only down 17-10 then 24-10 after the Bills' long drive with 4 minutes left in the 4th...would have changed the game, IMO.

d.) The offensive line needs to be a lot better....like the article above says. We need Trent Brown to not be sick...Cole Strange to stop making strange errors at critical times (he has been making good plays too, but big whiffs here and there)...Dave Andrews to be healthy (great to see him out there last night), Onwenu is the only constant...and right tackle...we are screwed there...unless Wynn heals up & plays better or Cannon comes back or Cajuste finally fulfills his promise...McDermott did his best yesterday, but he was on the practice squad for a reason. Unsure what the hell we will do here in the off-season.... I am not writing off Mac until I see him consistently suck with good protection up front.....the dude doesn't have a clean pocket to throw from which is why Matty P is running the quick stuff.....

Brown is on a 2 year deal ending in the 2023-2024 season. We need depth here.

Strange is on a 5 year rookie deal (pretty sure we pick up his option if we did so for Wynn). He will be on the line for the next 4 seasons.

Andrews is on a 4 year deal ending in the 2024-2025 season. I am OK with Frentez backing him up and we don't need to worry about a center for 1 more season at least. Plus we have Russey too....

Onwenu will be in the final year of his rookie deal in 2023-2024 (drafted in 2020). We need depth here.

RT: Cannon is too old. Wynn is a goner unless he is willing to return for peanuts AND play RT. Cajuste is in the final year of his rookie deal...dunno if we resign him.

Other than the guys above...we have McDermott a PSer, Stueber who is on the NFI list, and Bill Murray...a DT converted to an OL-man...he was active last night, but no snaps.

e.) The secondary coverages on Diggs.....terrible. I read that we tried zone, doubling, and some man coverage with J. Jones.....there were some uncalled push offs as well...not sure what's going on there.

Watching TNF on primetv Sucks. Everything - and I mean EVERYTHING - about it Sucks.

One would ass-ume that an egg-head like Phatt Matt would be more creative than he's been; but he's proven to be just a regurgitator of Billy's game plan, with no discernible imaginative thinking on his own... Typical Failed Slappy.

So many ****ing gutless, chikkin-sh!t, unmanly ****ing decisions by QB & coaches alike... We All know what they were so I won't bother with the sickening details... But the Real Leaders of the team - Andrews & the big Guy - have to be looking at each other and asking WTF?!?

Someone on the sidebar yesterday posted a stat showing the Pats had the league's 3rd- or 4th-longest distance to go while in 2nd down, at slightly over 8 yards per... Confirms what we've all seen with our own lyin' eyes throughout the season.

Rham Tough is the loneliest fella in all of the position rooms... Some of us had expressed concerns as far back as TC about the quantity AND quality at RB but were ass-ured by the ibbits that, in ADDITION to our offensive Line , we had a "top-5" RB group too...
In the words of Burt Wonderstone: the fools.

The "wins" vs the Jete twice & vs the bloodClots would've been EASIER if Zappy had been our QB and not Corky the former pre-teen model.

FACT.

Having said that, I also don't believe this is all Corky's fault, or even mostly his fault. It's a Grand Slam of Suck: Coaches, offensive Line, Corky, and Nelson Agholor, probably in that order.

Not sure what we have in Steuber or Hines, but Onwenu should be locked up immediately.

Yes he should... Just not at Shack Mason money. Heck Shack Mason Himself should Never have been signed for that much in the first place...
If one stops to anal-yze it, RG is the Most Easily replaceable position along the OL and should therefore have the Least amount of cap space devoted to it, unless everybody else are playing under rookie contracts or something... Giving Mason that deal probably cost them Thuney.

Agree, agree and Agree... Heck if they had made that end-of-half FG, they were a 1st/Goal TD away from being 7 points down with over 2 minutes remaining AND All 3 timeouts... I mean, at least make the ****ing Billdos EARN their win, for once.

That's the thing....we lost that game because of the offense. Sure, our defense cannot stop them...we played light boxes all night...and the Bills were popping off 5-6 yards on 1st down with Cook/Singletary. However, if we played decent offensively...it would have been a entirely different game for example, that fumble on the first drive...say we score and go up 7-0...then limit the Bills to a FG...then it is 14-3, at that point the Bills are gonna start throwing on early downs more often.

That's the problem with playing elite offenses...we have to score to keep those offenses from just taking the underneath stuff and slowly march down the field...then turnovers/3 and outs will follow, IMO.

Let's see how we do out west...if we take both games out west...we'll be 8-6 going into the final 3 and needing to win 2 of 3 to make the playoffs. ONE MORE LOSS and it is RUN-THE-TABLE-TIME, baby!
