Game Day Thread Official Post Game Day Thread- Pats beat the Jets

THIS IS OUR LIVE GAME DAY THREAD:

This is where we gather to follow things on Game Day. Obviously, emotions tend to be high so if anyone gets a little crazy, the use of the “Mute” button is encouraged on anyone who may be annoying to you to control your experience and to allow the moderators to also enjoy the game.

At the same time, please take a deep breath before over-reacting for the sake of making this a pleasant experience for everyone.

I still don't get the "Zappe-is-Answer" crowd.
Do they not count the fact that after Zappe led the Pats to the lead 14-10 last week at halftime, he continued to lead the team the rest of the game, and didn't produce 1 dang thing. If he played so bad with a lead, with ALL the momentum and crowd behind him at home, but couldn't muster barely a 1st down the entire 2nd half (including 2 INT's and a fumble), what makes people think he can obviously tear up the Jets or anyone else going forward? I'm not saying Zappe stinks, but he's not any less vulnerable than Mac. So, I'll stick with the more experienced at this juncture and see if the O Coaches can start helping him.

But zappe has a 158 rating on play action passes and its the coaches or the scheme. Yes, I'm telling you that it's Mac Jones

And they put Zappe in play action far more than Mac. Why? Because we saw him from the shotgun near exclusively last week in the second where he absolutely sucked. Far worse than Jones. So maybe we play Zappe on downs where they play play action and Jones on plays they are in shotgun.

Again, they aren't giving Jones enough play action plays. That's not on him. That on the play calling.

I do love how you think Mac sucks because they don't do the play action this year even though he was great at it this year and the reason they don't call play action for him is he sucks at it. Where is your proof? What are his numbers out of play action?

We can only look at the fact he had back to back TD drives last week. The rest isn't his fault so we cannot hold it against him. Apparently, that is the logic.

And a lot of blame to put on BB too. The decision to just 3&out the entire 4th qtr trying play safe is ridiculous. We won't win another game if that's the offensive game plan.
The play calls in the 4th quarter sucked. Da Jete had lost their will to fight. We were getting big chunks on the ground. All we needed to do was call runs or safe passes and run out the clock, but nope, we got cute. After the 2nd three-and-out with no points to show for those possessions, da Jete all of a sudden woke up. Someone posted in the GDT that we needed to step on their neck, and I agree. We had control of the game and we let da Jete take it back from us, and it almost cost us.

Why do people think that was a questionable RTP call? Looked like a good call to me. Can’t launch yourself at the QB and hit him high and think you’re not getting a flag for that.
Even if he hadn't launched, it was late and an intentional hit. Shouldn't even matter that he left his feet.

Mac has no arm.
Did you see the analyst say on that pass it eventually got there.

We still don’t have a franchise QB we won on defense and the fact Wilson is terrible when pressured.
Wilson’s issues should be coachable.
Mac Jones having half of Chad Penningtons arm strength and not being able to read a defense and make a quick decision is a much bigger issue.

If Joe Flacco played we would have been killed.
Hell I think Mike White would have played better than Wilson.
Mvps of the game.

Mccourty.
Judon
Jonathan Jones
Cole Strange
Stephenson
Meyers
Folk!
Macs potential and his ceiling is far from being reached, he showed the NFL he was more than capable of holding his own.. right now all the comparisons are unfair to him.. he just needs to continue to get better and play within the offense, if we continue to win then he has to get credit for that..

Look at what happened in Mac's game against ______ (pick any opponent).
Think we need to remember this team is still in the rebuild phase, we have no all pro level offensive weapons, and we still find ways to win.

Have to remember Mac is in a new offensive scheme, many young qbs have had the same growing pains as mac..

I’ve only been following the league since the mid 90s. So, I’m looking for historical comparisons.

The NYJ were the worst 5-2 I can remember seeing. Anyone disagree ?

The nearly pick-six looks to be a miscommunication with Meyers on an option route - Mac said as much after the game. But maybe not a good choice even if they had been on same page.

The other int, Mac's arm got his as he threw.

Our OL really struggled today against a strong DL, particularly in the first half. Things improved when they went up-tempo with quicker throws.

I wish we could get XO's like this on every play. It appears Bourne was wide open... although 91 was totally destroying Cannon with pressure from the right.

Post game Punky Wilson “we‘ll see these guys in two weeks”.

he’s already got it circled and a little salty

It makes sense that there could have been a miscommunication on that play because there was no logical reason for him to throw there otherwise. I would still put the blame on Mac on that one, but it makes it less of a head scratcher.

Mac was super mediocre, bordering on a disaster if not for the pick six being reversed. I’m glad we won but the prospects are still iffy moving forward.

I think he was making a big effort not to turn the ball over, to the point of being overly conservative.
And yet, he still managed to make horrible throws.

Guess which receiver Mac threw it to on this play?

You do realize Hunter Henry was covered by the time he actually turned around to look for the pass. But I guess Jones could have thrown it at this point and hope Henry could catch it with the back of his helmet. If he threw it to Henry, there was a chance the defender jumps the route and brings it back for six. And the other defender was in Jones' face when he threw.

It was a bad call that the Jets didn't fall for. Blame Patricia for that one. Fourth and one and you run a trick bootleg play.
